dude... dont go cheap lol... especially on springs which pretty much keeps ur car above the ground.. i would never cut springs to make my car lower, since springs are only like.. 100-200 bucks for a set..
lol dont assume its me. I aint cutting springs...I already got htechs.
its just a couple of my roomates got into a debate on how cutting springs (about 1 or 2 coils) isnt that bad because you increase spring rate and make the car lower (which does the same as the regular drop springs)
I thought it made sense when he said that, but thats just me

I'm pretty sure cutting it doesn't change the compression rate. The spring constant of the spring is something determined by the material used to make the spring, not the length of it. Sure, cutting it will drop the car more, because obviously the spring is shorter. But it won't compress more, you need a different material to get a spring that has more compression.
Springs are that long for a reason. They have rates. A friend of mine had an integra. He cut the springs and was driving aggressively on a road and guess what? His suspension effed up and he totaled the car b/c the springs weren't as strong as they were before he cut them. DON'T DO IT.
lol. its funny that you start this thread because one of my best friends was saying how dumb someone would be to do this a couple of days ago. as TheMerovingian said, the springs arent gonna be as strong, so you're not gonna have a lot of control. you might mess up your stock shocks/struts, if you dont crash, that is. if someone is trying to save money by cutting their springs, its gonna cost them a lot more money in the long run.
Cutting springs is the dumbest "mod" you can do to your car. Not only will you look retarded bouncing all over the place, you will more than likely make the handling of your vehicle worse(& potentially dangerous) by doing this.
Leave it stock or spend the money to do it right
