Default Wheel Offset Question

I found my original question to what the stock wheel offset for the tC is, which is +45mm. A new questions I have, which I wasn't able to find with search is, if anyone has experience with using an aftermarket wheel with a different offset and how it's effected the suspension and handling. Does anyone have insight on if a +35mm offset will effect the suspension on the tC negatively? What would be the ideal offset, the factory +45mm ?

That's from the Stick on FAQ: Everything you ever wanted to know about the tC. Hit it up. Good stuff. ;)

man, if the stock offset is +45, there is no way anyone should run +35 on 17x7 rims. that's just asking to destroy the wheel bearings. the key to buying aftermarket wheels is to keep the offset as close to the stock offset as possible.

i gave u the best advice. i'd stay away from +35. get the offset as close to +45 as possible. my suggestion is for 17x7 wheels of course. not sure if u were looking to go bigger. if so, the offset does change, but still, +35 would be killer on the bearings.

Wouldn't an offset of 0 be perfect?
The center of the wheel would be more centered on the bearing then... right?

Why would this be a problem?

I've googled it.
www.tires.com
:Alert Graphic: Note that extensive negative offset can potentially cause increased steering wheel kick-back and place additional stresses on the vehicle's entire suspension.

Now, I'm trying to figure out why when you specify a scion tC, they offer you wheels with +.35mm offsets rather than just +.40's mm. Grr. lol I'm looking at 18's, and according to motegi and stilyn offset changes with width. Grrr. Thanks people. I'll try and figure it out.

So...since a decrease of 10mm (to +35) will still not make for a NEGATIVE offset, there should be no problems associated with using those wheels.
Many people are using wheel spacers which set the wheels out on the axles...up to 25mm from stock....without problems. I'm considering some 15/20's myself...

The "kick-back" effect is due to "Steering Axis Inclination" or SAI. Ask your local alignment tech to explain it to ya...or Google it...
