Default when switching gears...

does anyone notice that the engine kind of "revs up" in sound when you are about to shift up? maybe it's me because I'm a relatively new stick driver... it could possibly be me not letting go of the gas completely before I clutch down, but sometimes even when I let go of the gas all the way, it will still rev when I clutch. is this a feature that helps in smoother shifting or am i doing something wrong?

someone told me I should shift at a higher RPM, but being that I'm still in the break-in period I am hesitant to rev any higher than 3k... maybe this has something to do with it?

Yes. This has been discussed before. Please do a search before starting new topics.

I would think that it is just a timing issue between your right and left foot. As you get more accustomed to the car, you'll have better timing. I was like that with my first manual. If not, perhaps it's that when you engage the clutch the resistance from all the other components is no longer there, allowing the engine spin more freely for a breif moment? Either way, a little blip in the throttle won't hurt anything. Good luck!

You don't need to rev it higher - when you clutch you disengage the engine from all it's load, so if you're on the gas at all it's going to rev up really fast. Even if you're off the gas it doesn't drop to 0 RPM, so you're going to hear something. As an experiment, get it up to like 35 in 3rd, then get all the way off the gas, then clutch all the way and then put it in 4th. But do it slowly with time in between to make sure everything is smooth. See if you notice anything unexpected. I doubt you will.

Yes, I notice this to. It happens under heavier acceleration. My foot is completely off the gas pedal but when I push the clutch pedal it seems like the gas is being pushed to for a second. This only happens under heavier accleration. Anyone know why??

It seems like this fly-by-wire throttle hangs for a second when shifting hard.

Can you explain that? And is that bad or normal?

I dont have any time behind the wheel of a tC. The only manual I have driven is a 94 Ranger. When shifting in that thing the engine does rev just a little. I think it does have to do with the load thing, I normaly hit the clutch like 1sec after im off the gas so the car is still gaining speed a little, so when you take the load of the engine it can rev even a little more. I think its just something to do with the way you go from gas to clutch to gas again.
