Yeah, my sticker said 100% Japan, where as the Celica
and others I looked at said something like 80% Canada,
20% Japan or some-such thing.

I'd take 100% Japan any day!

so... they ship the European platforms... to Japan? to build?

why not just build them at the same plant they built the Avensis?

im sure tC doesnt have it's own plant? that would cost so much! build a car, at it's own plant,a nd ship the car oversees?

Makes more sense to be ASSEMBLED in europe..

I doubt the avensis is completed manufactured in the EU if at all. Most likely made in Japan and shipped there.

that's a good point, but this discussion can be solved very quickly... I live next to a toyota dealership, so I'll go check the window sticker tonight on my way home from dinner. My guess? I think it's motor and tranny are from japan, but the rest is from Burnaston U.K. i'll post the real deal in a couple hours.

The answer is simple, just look at the assembly sticker on the end of your drivers door. Final assembly in Japan.

Toyota can afford to build any car in one plant. they have a city in Japan named "Toyota"

I'm back! Well Jmiller is correct, the door sticker (here they put them on the rear quarter window, driver's side) says 100% assembled in japan.

The tC is made in Tsutsumi, Japan in the same factory that builds the Toyota Prius.

Does make sense... Also kind of explains why the Prius and tC were backordered at the same time!

well atleast are car isnt canadian... but as for the chasis being made in europe dont think thats right... they make it all in japan at the same plant and it saves money b/c of the assembly line idea where everything moves faster and inturn sells faster... as for being shipped from japan its closer in some parts than europe and its probably cheaper b/c they ship so much they get cheaper importing fees when it comes from japan... just a guess though.
