seem like everyday on sl there is a post regarding broken hatch handles so lets keep a poll of how many of us have been unfortunate so far.

gently do it make sure you hear the latch deactivate before you yank it.
they have a scion in my apartment complex with a broken garnish, it was just hanging then he taped it still broken.

my gf doesnt know how to open my hatch and i feel its on the verge of breaking sooner or later lol..that and the button is like melted now cause of how hot it is down here,everytime i open it my fingers are black

I broke it, but it was my fault... sorta. I backed into some pallets and had the hatch repaired. The body shop broke the a tab on the garnish while taking it off. When I got the car back, it slowly deteriorated until it finally snapped completely off. Toyota fixed it under warranty... lucky me.
I see one tC with a broken hatch handle almost everyday, I think most times people forget that the car is not unlocked and go yank on it hard and crack......I've had a CF trunk for about 3years now and no problems here, just gotta be gentle like some one else already said.

I've owned two tC's and I've never had one break on me. In fact, I've lifted the hatch with the garnish while mounds of snow were on the hatch, and no breaking.
Also, the poll is as dumb as the people breaking the garnishes.

It seriously saddens me when I see a tC with the hatch garnish taped on. For those that are breaking the hatch garnish, I wonder where it's breaking from and if it possible to fix it using large washers or something?
i understand how my hatch works but the biggest problem is scion made this thing with 4 tiny clips its not bullet proof lol. i open my hatch daily! and know just how the darn thing works but the problem is when other people open it.....everyone thinks its a handle!!!!! scion could of done a better job.
