I know someone who did exactly the same thing as you. He was a kid that didn't want to pay to be on the policy and figured his money would better be spent on buying clothes. Although his has never been in a accident, I give him this scenario which I am will give you now. Let me tell you a story.

I asked his uncle, "Okay. So if junior gets into an accident on the freeway and he is not on the policy, why should his mom's insurance company pay for damages that was caused by someone that wasn't supposed to be driving it in the first place. It's stupid. " My uncle says, "It's not stupid. You just have to know how to report it (so that they think his mom was driving it)". Then I was thinking to myself, "Wow. For someone his age, he sure is an idiot to think he can easily ripoff an insurance company like that."

This is usually what's gonna happen in a car accident. The police comes and they make a report. The police report says that junior was driving. The other person involved in the accident makes his own report to his own insurance company. His report is also gonna say that junior was driving. Junior would try report to mom's insurance company that mom was driving and that junior was never in the car. So now there are inconsistent reports. So who's gonna win that case?

Do yourself a favor and put your name in that policy.

 

not as bad as my friend that has so many tickets, accidents up the butt, etc... all equates to $800 a month

 

i'm 18, on my parents policy, no tickets, no accidents....if i bought a tC...how much would it cost (estimate)

i live in a "safe" part of Southern Cali

 

i'm guessing under 150. i think my parents currently pay $1700/yr to insure me on our '00 Lexus ES300 as the primary driver so i'm sure a car that costs half as much would be less (18, 1 ticket, no accidents, *had* the good student discount...damn college =P)

 

Try USAA. I pay less than $700 per year. Check em out.

 

5 points and 8 accidents in my driving career. Only one was my fault. I got checks for the other 7 flamers. The points are from a ticket I got back in march of 03'. $170 month through progressive. Not bad at all.

oh and houston is by FAR one of the most expensive places for insurance... when i had one totaled car on my record, my insurance was more expensive in houston than it was in boston with TWO totaled cars on my record.... yea... about that...

I have GEICO and they have been great, I have been with them with 3 differ cars and types of cars and my car insur has stayed the same. I was worried it would have gone up with the tC since its a coupe and i am a male and under 25.

 

I'm also with Geico. Good company. I have one ticket on my record, one accident that wasn't my fault. I am 28 yrs old and I pay about $140 a month on my tC. I still think that's high (I live near Pittsburgh) but after reading this, it actually seems about average...

 

I have full coverage with Cinncinatti Insurance. Costs me about $500 a year. I'm 26 with a clean record as of last year. Only bad part about it is my agent is an idiot. But so far no problems with Cinncinatti.

 

Well, in most states, if a licesnsed driver drives your car sometimes, but not regularly, and they get into an accident, the car is still insured. This is true in SC. However, if they have the same address as you, the insurance company might claim you should have told them.

 

I run about $900/yr in MA, which has very high rates overall. Clean record and 29, though, that helps.

 

Holy crap. I pay $75 a month for full coverage with American Family. I'm 24, mostly clean driving record (e.g. don't get caught )

 

I’m 21 living in Los Angeles. I got 3 tickets(All minor stuffs) and had an accident (My fault and I totaled my EVO) in last 4 years. I’m paying $2,644.20 for 6 months and $5288.40 a year for a ….tC. God, I wanna cry- I can put everything in my tC with that $5288.40. I’m havin State Farm and I can tell u guys that they suck but I have no choice. I hate insurance company, f*** that s***. I just wish i can have a 2nd chance and have a clean record to restart everything............

 

heh... I insure 2 cars.. a 95 lumina with liability only for $79 (sisters car) and my insurance agent hides my age on that car so I pay $81 a month for full coverage on my tC... Pretty much kicks ___! 21 years old, 3 tickets (only 2 made it to my record), no accidents.

 

haha i had gieco and was paying like 60 bucks a month for my crx got my tc and now they want 476 a month... A MONTH... i have a clean record no accidents a speeding ticket like 3 years ago thats it

For those who have traffic tickets don't you guys go to traffic school to get those knocked off? Ive had 4 tickets in the past 8 years but have always gone to traffic school to gotten them off my record. You can even go to traffic school more then once every 18 month period if you attend 12 hours of traffic school...at least here in CA. In my last traffic school class the instructor told us about a guy who had 4 tickets in 18 months and got them all off the record by going to 2nd offender traffic school for the last 3 of them.

 

How about gettin a new ssn and a new driver license ?
