Default Why buy a stubby antenna, when you can make your own.

I took the stock antenna, chopped off the center mast and used a high strength epoxy to glue the stub back to lower mast.

Or you could have just removed the mast and kept the lower mast as is without the stub.

Reception wasn't effected at all, driving up to the mountains, reception was the same as the normal length mast.

It has been from Portland to Lake Tahoe and has held up great.

Looks just as good as any other stubby antenna.

Did you try it with just the base without the mast? How was receptoin? How did it look? I thought it was all one piece.

i guess the reception would be the same since he did almost the same thing as just the mast he only left enough to get the plastic cover on there so you dont see any of the meatle antana

To get the end off i think you boil it in water s2000 was likw 10 buks on ebay so i just got one because im lazy...

i guess ill try to boil it and if it warps or any thing ill just get a s2000 one im just trying little free things till after christmas then ill have $$$$

that doesn't look too bad. looks like a good job. i don't think i could bring myself to cut my antenna though. :? how much are the stock antennas from the dealer?

The TC's antenna is just your typical Fuba found on VWs, Fords, Mazdas everywhere.

You can buy one for $10. So if you destroy it, who cares. The only modification you make is to the mast that unscrews from the car. 2 snips with a wire cutter and some epoxy or JB Weld.

It still works without a mast, but only if you are in a area with good FM. Once you start heading out of the city, reception dies.

Back on topic. ElBam, did it involve any sanding to make the base and the top meet together perfectly?

Me 2 Kaeon, I got my Honda S2000 OEM Ant off Ebay for 10.00 Looks good and works well but if you guys wanna rig it to your TC then do what U want..
