Default WHY MOD? ? ?

I just got my new 2006 tC in FLint Mica. I love it. Why do I need to change the way it is? ? ? ?

As much as I love that joke... you should have waited for a better setup. Like maybe... "OMG, my parents just took away the keys to my tC - why are they so stupid?" Or something like that would be a great setup for that joke. Love Family Guy.

Anyways... on topic: part of the marketing junk for Scion as a company is being able to make it your own. That's why you can get so many things OEM from the dealer as accessories. It's about personalization. If you like it stock - then that's for you. If someone wants to add new wheels or a spoiler, then that's for them.

Just ask yourself one question:
What moves you?

I should work for their marketing dept.

I mod my car for two main reasons:

1. After I got my tC I got into Auto Crossing and have been doing it for some time now. I want to mod it so that it will go faster and handle better, and so that I have a better chance of winning.

2. I've entered it in a few car shows and recently got 2nd Place tC. I have to out-mod the competition to reach #1.

So basically, stupid egotistical reasons, but it's still fun. And I've always enjoyed working on (repairing) my old cars. Since the tC isn't going to break any time soon, I have to do something with it.

3 reasons I can come up with:

1) you race/autoX and you're a car enthusiast who needs the performance (either in suspension or engine)
2) social-economic status...you can't mod a car without $$$ and rims/kit/boost all cost money
3) just because you want to..your car, your money, do what you want with it...I want my car to look different so I mod it. Simple as that.

You sound like my dad.. "why you spending your money on that plastic hood... it's a POS anyway" "your headlights were fine.. you dont need new ones" and so on and so on....he acts as if he's paying for it.. I'm payin for the car, the insurance, the gas so I dont get why he complains

Why Mod

Reasons why I Mod

1. Tint= saves my interior, keeps car cool during the summer, looks alot better with it.

2. New Rims= someone was nice enough to leave a dresser draw in the middle of the highway(and due to a car infront of me who also hit it)it didnt see it till I hit it bent my rims and got some nice new ones(make it look alittle more sporty).

3.Blue LED's for dash= I hated the orange color so I made it blue, looks soo much better.

4. New CD player, amp and subs= If I cant set your car alarm off in the parking lot im just not happy(muhahaha).

I mod because my tC is a 4x4 on the road. I want it closer to the ground...

Whatever you like. Different reasons for different people. I do it as much to tinker with them as I do to make them the way I want. Nothing wrong with not doing it either.

But, I also have to throw it in..........

Simply put, to make it your own.

When I see a picture of several tCs, I want to be able to pick mine out. Now, I haven't done anything drastic to mine, but I've done enough little things to set it apart from the others... it's no better or worse than any other tC, just different... mine.
so far:
15% tint all around
de-badged tailgate
VVT-I badge in the front grill
airbag warnings replaced with black/silver scion logos

When I first bought my tC, I told myself that I would keep everything stock, I have owned other rice rockets in the past including a mustang, 2 civics, and until recently an xB and i have learned from my mistakes from making mods that adversely affected the car. I wanted to keep mines bone stock just so it would stay pure from any potential defects that aftermarket parts can cause (and admit it, they do from time to time).....

....that being said, my promise to myself to keep my tC a virgin lasted all but 1 week, now i've just installed 19 inchers and dropped the car probably much more than i should have, hehehe
