Default Will it Fit ?

Ok i want to add two thing to may car at the moment. But i think a couple of this are holding me back from doing it. I have an Azure Pearl auto tc with side air bags. Now my question is. Can i take out my stock seats and add in Sparco seats for tis place? Will it interfer with the air bags when they deploy? Also, i want the Kenwood DDX7015 dvd player in my car. Will i have to take off the radio door off in order to put it on. The main reason is because is i dont want people lookin in my car and noticing i have the Kenwood DDX7015 in my radio when i could just easily close the door and not worry about anything ... Thanks

yeah taking out the seats will effect it unless there is some way to get the weight sensors for the airbags into the new seats. Also...are the side airbags in the seats? correct me if I'm mistaken.

You beat me to the post! I think it most certainly will affect your Side Airbags. From what Ive read when you get the option it installs the Side Airbags and the Curtain Airbags. THe Curtains are on the frame of the car while the Side are mounted in the seats. So youd really be throwing money out the window. The door should close for the Kenwood. A question for you, why would you install Racing Seats on a 160hp car? You afraid of flying out =P! Just messin with ya!

Hmm. I dont think the side airbag options includes anything in the seats. I could be wrong though.

I was under the impression that the side airbag option just included curtain airbags that deployed over the windows in the event of a side impact.

The only problem I could forsee with the Sparco seats is the weight sensor for the seatbelt/airbag.

And the Kenwood? Its been discussed previously in this forum. Try searching for it. There are a few really good write ups about it.

the side air bags are in the side bolsters of the front seats. so you wouldn't want to put in aftermarket seats or seat covers if you have the air bags.

I've seen pics of several Scion tC's with Sparco and/or aftermarket racing style seats and I saw no problems with fitment. There's plenty of room in there. There are various size seats too, some come in wide format for huge assets. Do some research. See how wide a seat is. The main thing is mounting the bracket into the stock location. Sometimes a sort of adapter is required, but it's not hard to make one yourself out of billet aluminum. Sometimes the sliders are universal enough so that they will allow mounting in almost any vehicle.

hey can you post some clear pics of your azure pearl tc? I was interested in that color, but didnt get a good picture from the color on scions website. And I have never seen azure on the road.

I ended up with the silver streak, which i love. But azure was tie with the silver when i was picking a color.

Ya it will effect them. Like Katzkin won't sell their seat covers if you do either.

Captain, pictures do not do the Azure Pearl justice. I saw so many pictures of it and was indifferent to the color but when I saw it in person I was wowed. If you can find a dealership that has one try to go look at it. Actually they make a Celica in relatively the same color, its a pale blue and looks amazing with tint.

This is from the Scion Website btw under accessories:
SRS Side & Side Curtain Airbags $650*
Get extra protection with front seat-mounted side and front and rear seat side curtain airbags. SRS side airbags for the driver and front passenger seats, and SRS side curtain airbags for the front and rear seats help protect against side impacts. (Cannot be combined with Auto-Dimming Mirror).

When you get the option you get two types of airbags one being mounted in seats.
