Default Window Tint Laws?

I checked around but didn't get clearly reliable info on this. (Also I didn't know what forum to put this in, I thought this was general enough). All the sites I went to said that they couldn't be counted on 100%, so of course I come to the gurus.

So, 20% window tint, legal in VA or no?

Thanks, I'm a n00b to this stuff.

That helps me out enough to compare it to what sites say are VAs laws. Thanks!

No, 70% is the limit in Pennsylvania.

Just so you know in Md the legal limit so 35%, most shops do 30% and you won't get messed with until you get below 20%. I think it's pretty much the same for Va. 70% tint means 30% translucent...which is how tint is measured

I think in Ohio its 35%. Ive had 20% all around (not front windhsheild) and havent gotten pulled over yet and its been about 2 years. Unless you know the police in your area are really strict about it, you shouldnt really have to worry. My friend got pulled over a few years back with having 20%, but I think he just gave him a warning and none of my friends have gotten pulled over for that besides him. I guess it just depends on your area.

PS, if you think you can get away with it, do it! my flint mica looks BADASS with the darker tint it made a world of difference as far as a clean look.

It is not 35 % rear . It is 0 % rear . You can black it out if you wish . New law . Understand it before telling others wrong . Again , you can even cover the rear glass with stickers to where you cannot even see in . I do not know why they changed that but , they did . Black out the rear in Va if you wish . The 50 and 35 % are correct . I think 35 % all the way around would be ok . Technically , you can be ticketed but , at 35 % , it is questionable as to whther the guys around here would enforce it unless you are rude . I certainly do not believe you would get pulled for it though .

Hince why you said NEW law. And don't be so rude to me. I got my information straight from the Department of Motor Vehicles website.

So whatever.
