Worst Service Experience Ever, I Need Serious Help Please.
I have a 2007 Scion TC and the center console, specifically the radio door started to squeek after a month. So I wanted them to change out the piece. I called the service department closer to my house to ask them if I could bring my car to any dealer for service. I did not by this car from them, but I did buy my last one there. They said I can bring it to any Toyota dealer for service. So I made an appt. to have it done yesterday. Also, the light in the cubby hole fell out of the back so I just wanted them to put it back in. No big deal right? So when it was all done I went to get in my car and drive away, and what do you know. My radio does not work at all. It goes on but no sound is coming out of my speakers. So I drive it back in and tell them. They say ok, the mechanic will fix it. After he plays with it for a half our he comes over to me and say my sattilite radio blew and when he disconected it, the regular radio works. I just got my satillite radio installed from my dealer last week. It worked right up until I pulled up to get my car serviced. So I ask to speak to a manger. The mechanic then says he did not touch the radio. I said he had to go by the wires in order to put the light back in the cubby hole. It fell out where all the wires are. The manager then says I have to bring it back to where I got it installed. I insisted they blew up my receiver. His answer was you can have a heart attack right now. So the radio decided to die at the same time they were working around the radio. He then continued to scream that its good enough to bring my car there for service but not not good enough to buy it from them. He said, if I would have bought the car from them he would have helped me out. The bottom line is they broke my radio and they should be responsible to fix it. So he was screaming at me like I did something wrong. He said I am no longer welcome here and must leave the premises. He then walked away. I then decided to talk to some woman there he is supposedly quality control. She was telling me to bring it back to my dealer and dont tell them anyone touched it. It just died. So I then needed the mechanic to hook the satillite radio back up for me. He does it. I have the factory blue LED lighting installed also. After he hooked up the radio, my LED lights were not working. I was ready to exploded at this point. Now they broke 2 things. So I am telling the lady who is now getting an attritude with me and she starts moving around the center piece that they changed out and my lights are going on and off. She then has the nerve to tell me it is a wiring issue and I have to bring it back to my dealer to fix it. I said the part you are moving around is the part that your guy just put in. Obviously he has a wire stuck in there. She then starts yelling at me that there is nothing else she can do for me and I need to leave. I then find a regular rep there and ask him if there are any normal people here that knows anything about cars. I start explaining the problem to him and he says they have to at least give you your car back the same way you brought it in. So I start telling him know one is willing to do that but instead yelling at me like I did something wrong. The manager then comes back and tells his rep to stop talking to me and he is calling the cops to remove me off of the premises. He also started to yell again saying I called him a M/F which was a total lie. I never cursed at this guy once because I know that would have been grounds for him to stop helping me and all I wanted was my car fixed to the way it was when I brought it there. He then said I was across the street at the Sales Building yelling over there. THkis was another lie. I do not even know where he came up with this one. I never walked out of the builing I was in. This guy was obviously making up stories now. He then proceeded to walk away. I went to the parts department to ask if there was a corporate complaint number and she told me it but then said it just get bounced back here after they get it. SO after that I just left. I know the cops were not going to be able to get my car fixed so what was the point in waiting for them to come. I brought my car back to my dealer and they said they think satillite is bad and will order me a new one. Hopefully that is the only problem. My LED lights obviously work now because they had to take the front panel off, and by putting it back correctly the wire was not being cut anymore.
So my question is, who can I report this to that action will be taken against this Toyota service center? This is not something that I just want washed under the bus. How would you have dealt with this problem? Did I do anything wrong here? So please, any help would be greatly appriciated. Also, the dealer is in Amityville. Thank you.
Due to threats of the dealerships lawyers of slander, I want to be clear that I stand behind my story expressed here to be 100% true. My post is not meant to hurt the dealer in any way, it is simply to share my personal experience I had with them and see if others have had similiar issues there also and how it was resloved.

First off - talk to the manager at the dealership. The highest up manager you can talk to.
2nd off - Talk to Scion corporate about it. You should NEVER be shouted at and definitely NEVER lied to.
Scion corporate will fix this all.

i am also dealing an issue with my local toyota service center...
my problem is friday i went to oil change...and they made 2 identical scratches on my front hood... ...for some reason when i got my car..it was been washed and after i got home i saw those 2 scratches i called them back...and they said i had to talk to the manager..so i run back to the service center..the manager saw those 2 scratches he just told someone to take care of it..
but wat happend was they polished my car..and there is no improvement after it ALSO they damage the car's clear coat and paint by polished those 2 scratches!
another problem when i opened up the engine bay..there is dirty water all over.........i wonder what happened...
SO...that guy say he can't polish anymore..otherwise the paint will wear off...ok.....i was being stupid that i left the service center
the more i think the more i angry about this..... caz my car is only 20 days old on friday...then i called them again..they asked me to go again on monday...
sigh...i m really disappointed ...

This is ultimately why the manager got hostile:
Translation: his dealership didn't get the profits from the car sale. Somebody else's dealership did. This ultimately means that he's less motivated to help you, and could be why he started acting like a buffoon, making up lies about things you didn't do, and threatened to call the police. Now theoretically you should be able to bring in your car to ANY Toyota dealership for service, and they should have the responsibility for owning up to mistakes in their maintenance and fixing it. They obviously didn't do it.
You should definitely get in touch with Toyota Corporate; this is a mess that shouldn't have happened. Half of it was the mechanic's incompetence, and the other half was the manager's ego.
I've brought my tC in for maintenance to two Toyota/Scion dealerships other than the dealer that sold it to me, and I've had no problems with either one's workmanship.
- The first one did a tire swap with a friend's tC, and took 2 hours to do it instead of the 1 they estimated at first, but they didn't make any maintenance mistakes.
- The second one did my first oil change, and gave me a surprise: they originally estimated 1 hour 45 minutes to do the oil change since they were short by two mechanics that day, but they stepped on it and got my car back to me in 45 minutes.

Wow, that really sucks. Like the others have said, I'd say call the corporate number as well. Start a journal detailing times, dates, names of everyone you talked to, etc. The more info you have the better.
one word... paragraphs.
but that really does suck. i was thinking about bringing my car to a closer dealership for its oil change and radio door squeek (after the dealership i bought my car from scratched the interior) but now I am a little antsy about it.

Sorry about the paragraph thing......Was a little angry and was not really looking for grammer perfection. It was the service center in Amityville but that is not where I bought it from. I actually bought the car from Toyota in Heampstead on Franklin Ave. They have been ok so far. The Amityville on is closer to me so I did not think it wasa big deal. They are actually the ones who told me I can bring my car to any Toyota Service Center. They left out the part that says they will treat you like a POS though.
The Better Business Bureau can be your friend!....
http://www.bbb.org/complaint.asp
I think you can file a online complaint about what happened and the BBB will request from the dealership how your problem was resolved. The company doesn't have to respond to the BBB complaint, but then it will make the company seem at fault and just doesn't look good in general...
Also.. here is Hawaii there is something called "Action Line" from the local news.. if you think someone or some company did something unjust.. you can report it and they will investigate as well as tell EVERYONE in Hawaii what going on with that company...
Sorry to hear about that but I hope this doesn't happen to someone else...

I agree with all the above said comments. Call Scion corp. and tell them, if they don't do anything, file a complaing with the BBB and let Scion Corp. and the dealer, that you are doing so. Then call whatever local tv station you have. In Charlotte we have one similar to the "Action Line" you are referring to. Good luck.

There are many many toyota dealerships like this, and a lot of scion customers are being screwed with over things they didn't do.. Faulty workmanship by the mechanic is blamed on the customer. What a joke. I'm telling everyone, if Toyota doesn't get a hold of this one and correct it, they'll lose sales, plain and simple. Don't think for one moment that word of mouth isn't a powerful thing. Look at how GM treated its customers for years.. It's why they're in the shape they're in now!
Thanks to everyone that has posted with helpful responses. So far I have wrote Scion Corp, The Better Business Bureau, Channel 2's Shame on You, and the Dealership letting them know the actions I am taking.
I will post an update if anything actually comes out of this. But for right now I hope people in the neighborhood stay away from the is Dealership.
Thanks again for everyones help.....
