Hey Guys, It's about an accident I had on the way to work today.
Well I was traveling southbound on I-95 between 45th street and Palm Beach Lakes in West Palm Beach, Fl on my way to work. For the people who don't know the area, there is construction everywhere. I was traveling at 65 mph in the left lane, but slowed down to about 45 mph when a rock slightly larger than the size of my head hit my car. From what I remember the white van in front of me slowed down and pulled off into the shoulder, I look up and see something coming down about to hit my car. I thought it was brown packing paper, man was I wrong. Apparently it hit my hood first, bounced up hit the drivers side windshield (almost breaking strait through), and then finally hitting the passenger side door frame above the window. I'm lucky to be alive, the two things that probably saved me are, that the rock hit my hood first, and I have window tint. The tint right now is holding the glass together. I was covered in shards, and its all over my interior. I will post pictures either later on tonight once I'm off work, or tomorrow. I have no idea where the rock came from, there were not any semi-trucks around, and a car wouldn't be able to kick up a rock that big. I'm pretty sure it hit the can in front of me and the truck behind me, but my main concern was not to cause a larger accident. So I've called the insurance company and they will send someone either tomorrow or the day after. It's going to be sad when you see those pictures.

Oh man your poor tC. At least you're ok and that it didn't cause a big accident. When I'm traveling down to west palm I take the turnpike to avoid most of the mess.

Go ^&@%# with the city. Who knows you may get something. Part of it is their negligence in maintaining safe driving conditions...

 

I like your attitude about all of this. Usually peeps are complaining about this or complaining about that. You look at the 'big picture'. Sorry to hear about your tC. I'm curious to see the pics. And I'm glad you still in one piece!

is the insurance company saying that you were at no fault or are they trying to pin it on you?

 

I'm 18, this was my first time talking to a claim person and whatnot. From what I understand I'm not at fault, but I need the adjuster to come and appraise the damage. I have the appraiser's number and she should be calling me and hopefully seeing my car tommorow. This does kinda suck, but might give me a chance to fix up a couple nix, dings, dents, and scratches while I'm getting the car repaired.

Good thing you had your windshield tinted... otherwise that rock would've smashed your face in... I'm sorta glad I have my windshield done too. Sorry bro, but it could've been much much worst.

 

After seeing pix and vid: WOW!!!! That's nuts! Somebody is watching over you, buddy! That film on the windshield did what it was supposed to do. Good pics for insurance.

One question though, how did it bounce from the middle of the hood, to the drivers side windshield, and back to the other side to hit the passenger side door frame?

 

went from hood to driver side, then to passanger

 

Meant hood, dunno why I said roof. Fixed

Regardless, still wondering how it bounced like that.

 

Wow, that really sucks big time but I think it can all be repaired. I usually drive very cautiosly in those typ of areas...Good luck on the repairs!

 

i'd be hitting the state with their deep pockets if ya know what i mean..take this to court or soemthing at least!

 

It's not worth it to try and fight the state, My insurance is going to cover it, I'm just happy it wasn't a larger accident. I really don't know the exact order of how it it hit my car. It just make sense that it would hit my hood, then windshield, and the passanger side door frame by the way I was traveling. When I first got hit I thought it only hit my window and I was lucky. Unfortunately I was wrong when I parked and checked my car. (other's think that it hit my passanger side door frame, then my windshield, then my hood, but that doesn't make sense).

yikes dude. good thing for laminated windshields or else you would have had that rock for dinner....
