Default wow this sucks

so i go to school, got done, i come back to my car and my left side mirror light was all cracked and scratched, tight!, =[ and my dealer apparently doesn't cover it with warranty, which i kinda find odd, and which sucks more,

so i would believe i would need to get the whole side mirror replaced, anyone know where i can buy a FM side mirror at?, cant seem to find any, i havent talked to my insurance company yet, would my insurance go up or something if i report it, and it wasnt my fault, and it was like a hit and run type of situation, i havent even told my parents yet and they havent seen it.. heh..

any info would be helpful, ty

why would it be covered under warranty? its like you get into an accident and the tC is totaled, you cant take it to the dealer and expect them to cover the whole car under warranty. thats not how it works. if the side mirror motor or blinker stops working then thats a different story, not if someone hit it and scratched it. your taking it to the wrong place, you should call you insurance company about it and make a claim. you might save yourself some money and buying it on the side for alot cheaper.

if you left to school with the side mirror fine, come out of class and it looks different, obviously someone hit it. it didnt magically apear on there.

You can claim it as UMPD/UPD (if your state has it) - since it was a hit and run - but you would still have to pay a deductible. I probably wouldn't bother reporting it though.

I'd say, if it is still usable, live with it until you find an FM mirror. Check local junk yards, FM is a very popular color.

Warranties only cover things wrong with the car that the manufacturer/dealer had anything to do with, if some schmuck hit your car, it's not their problem, although you might go there to get the highest quote for repair possible so that when you get your check, you have leftovers.

I think the point is that the price of the whole mirror assembly (about $150) is less than probably 90% of people's deductibles. So there's no point in even notifying insurance because you'd be paying more for the deductible than for the part.

Order the mirror yourself and install in about 5 minutes (literally). No insurance necessary.

I've done it.

wow....what a noob. Damages to the car are not considered under warranty. Your dealership was prolly thinking of closing their doors permanently so they don't have to deal with you anymore. I feel sorry that they sold you a car.

Calm down....the kid is 18 for goodness sake. I'm sure he does not know the way insurance and deductibles work. He is either fresh out of high school or about to be so take it easy. His parents probably bought him the car so he doesn't know. He was simply looking for some friendly advice, not for someone to be an _______.

Like it has already been stated your insurance deductible >= $200 most likely. The part itself <=$145. Just buy the part flat out and do your first install. You can become more familiar with your car that way, it'll save your insurance premium and you don't have to deal with insurance.

Tell your parents though, i'm sure they'll want to know.

Dude, I'm not trying to be a butthole, but seriously, I've had my tC since I was 18 and I would never once think that a dealer would cover damages under warranty. If so, a dealer would go bankrupt. Anyways, check your insurance or get a new mirror on trdsparks.
