yea thats what i was thinking too...or instead of bolts, he can fill the holes with those little plastic button clips with the ribs and paint those white

Yeah, this project reminds of a pic Neb showed me a while back of a white older GTI with an impossibly clean/stripped engine bay. Everything was totally smoothed out. I thought somehow covering all the holes would get you closer to that super-smooth look.

i found this on a vw forum and he said he drives it.

 

i got extra piping and a filter so ill bring it over and youll have an intake.

 

well i could see the second one being driven cuz theres a lil more than the first one.

if that first one is driven he must have spent a ishtload of money moving everything...
