Default Are you Kidding me?!?!

So today me and my father went out for a round of golf for a early father's day present. Its about a 35 min drive away from my house, and quickest way there is usually the Highway...Speed limit around here is around 65-70...Made it all the way there no problems to the car what so ever....

On the way back is where the problems begin...I get back on the highway doing maybe 70....when i start to hear a lil scrapping from underneath the floor boards....Im in the left lane on a two lane highway while being boxed in with no where to go....I immediatly turn my flashers on and try to move myself to the right lane, but being boxed in doesnt help my situation...then the scrapping underneath the car gets louder, and BooM! i lose my passenger side inner wheel well...(aka) Plastic crap inside the wheel well) Just rips right off totally.....then Boom maybe one 15 seconds later the Drivers side inner wheel well... gone...Right off in the middle of the highway....I was in total shock, cant believe something like that would ever happen

Finally made it to the side of the highway to see scion car parts scattered all over the highway...no accidents cause and everyone was safe...im just still in shock, no idea what caused it....

Take it to the dealer later in the day, tell him my issue and he said "HE THINKS" warranty should cover it? Maybe i should do some research but geez I thought I wouldnt have a problem with this one....?

FYI- this isnt the first road trip i have taken either...done about 700miles on one road trip no issues at all

Just curious if anyone encounter this or have any tips about the warranty issue?

Did you have any work done to your tC that would require the wheel wells to be loosened or removed. (Like a CAI install?) That's really strange that would happen, sorry to hear that.

Is your car stock?

I have a bodykit and when I put it on, I didnt reinforce the fender wells and the same happened to me.
If you havet done anything to the car, it better be covered.

My scion is almost a year old and I've done about 2-3 LONG road trips and have had no issues like this. Like Hyghgynx said it may have been caused by someone forgetting to put some screws back after an install or something.

Hopefully you are ok and no one got hurt.

something like this happened to me driving from tybee island, georgia to orlando florida. got onto i-95 and suddenly i smelled something burning and then BOOM! my driver side inner fender came loose and started smacking the side of my fender beacause it didn't come completely off. i tore off the remaining part of the fender and drove to central florida toyota where they looked at it. i told them it must be a warranty issue, the car was only like 10 months old. well, they imediately noticed my cai that was installed by fitzmall here in gaithersburg and told me it was their fault, not toyota, well, i whipped out my invoice for them installing the cai and fitzmall footed the bill for a new inner fender and repair the paint and body on the driver side fender that got messed up.

Sounds like a bad install that involved removing the inner fender. There are push pins and screws that arent just going to come out on their own.

yea sounds like a tampered issue. I drove my car several times out of Miami to Orlando and Naples and pretty much anywhere in Florida and i never had any problems. Just Be Careful for next time and hopefully they will fix it

The only thing I have done to the car is the OEM lip kit and the dealership put that on when i bought the car....Its has been over a year now since that time and 11,000 miles later...The bumper has not come off the car since....so we shall see what they tell me as fas as warranty

wow, thats really weird.

I just broke my baby in, I hope my inner fenders dont jump off.

I should just stop reading these forums, you guys keep telling stories of parts falling off and exploding moonroofs and such.

Makes me nervous.
