I understand if certian circumstances require an automatic, but if you have a choice and just decide to go lazy with an auto, IMPO you are less skilled of a driver....
You = fail.

You're not better than me for friggin shifting, & if you think people are "lazy" just because they don't wanna shift then you're ignorant . So IMPO you're a butthole for making that statement.
I dont recall saying I was better than you.... or anyone for that matter.... I believe that driving a manual transmission car takes more skill, and more coordination then it does to drive an automatic. I personally do not like driving an automatic car, for the simple fact that it feels like I am doing nothing. I find myself paying less attention to the road and what is going on because I get bored....

I dont know what things are like in the "valley" but here there are no hills. I have family in Connecticut, and said that if I ever lived there I would drive an automatic. So if where ever you are from is anything like that then I can kind of see why you would prefer automatic.....

I dont recall singling you out, and saying you suck at driving for driving an automatic. I dont know you or your level of skill. I made a general statement based on observations that I have made in the past so I would appreciate if you would not jump my ___ again...... thanks.

It's not a cat fight. I just dont appreciate people jumping my crap, thinking I am talking about them in particular when I am making a general statement....

Thats because your statement, general or not, was rather bold and you made it seem that if all people who bought autos didn't buy it because of "certain driving conditions" that they are lazy by going with auto instead of stick. If thats not what you meant that is certainly what you said. Not to mention the auto= fail statement.

Not trying to jump all over you or anything but by making such a general statement you're going to single people out whether you intended to or not.

Don't want to start anymore crap in this thread than has already started so I hope you take what I said for what it is.

Thank you, agreed.

& Ms. Rachel, whether it was a general statement or not, you definitely said AUTO = FAIL, & since I do drive an auto you definitely made it seem as though I WAS FAIL. So you need to think before you speak because you offend people with the way you word things. You also said if you had a choice between auto or stick (which when it comes down to it, EVERYONE DOES) is that auto drivers are lazy....& fail, so yeah, I'll "jump a butt" when statements like that are made because I find them offensive.

Sure, I would have loved to get a 5spd, but at the time of my purchase, there was such a high demand on the tC's that I took whatever was available. I love how some of you guys try to rationalize that your tC's are somehow better than others just because they're stick.... when in the end, it's the same car. Sure, it may not be faster, but you can only go so fast on the road while still abiding to the law.

And to the guy who posted why Auto guys mod their car and why we would be on a forum, same concept as to why you would want to mod your 5spd; because we can and we like to. I assume your tC is daily driven, just like mine.... i'll just end it there.

So, for those of you who have automatics, don't be ashamed. Enjoy your car for what it is... A CAR...not a RACECAR.... or SUPERCAR (even though some of you think you can drive your tC like one).
hehe my ride is a SuperRaceCar

Regardless of what anyone says, Autos and Manuals have there own pros and cons. Its basically what fits your daily habits. If you think auto is boring then your boring yourself because you cant make fun out of the situation at hand.

I've had my share of both auto and manual cars... I don't mind either personally, I just have a bit more fun with manual ...

Couldn't have said it better I'm not gonna lie and say there aren't times I wish I got a manual and times I'm glad I got my auto..for the most part I never really care. My driving style is better suited for an auto anyway. I love driving stick to but I'm gonna save that for when I am able to get myself a nice little project car :D

How much fun can you have mashing the gas pedal and breaking? Sure you can argue with this, but manual is more fun to drive. You can make auto fun, but whatever you do to make auto fun would be 10x better with a manual.

lol what happens if you suck at driving manual..then auto would naturally be more fun for you. Not saying you suck at driving, just mentioning a funny situation I just thought of.

Everyone is going to suck at first lol, it only takes a few days to get manual right, it can take a lifetime to master it though for some people.

Tell me about it... When I first got my Civic (first stick car) and driving it home the first night, it took me two red-light cycles (and a bunch of people honking) to figure out that I was launching in 3rd gear and not 1st causing the car to stall out every time ...

Auto here, the first car I drove was a manual.... for me it wasnt 'fun' or more exciting, It was just more work. Call me lazy.. I really dont care hehe, cuz I know i am

It is funny how some people get mad about it... This is why I have a rotary phone I have so much more controll!, and I can still text faster then you on my rotary, calling people is so fun now!
