I own a 07 manual tC Spec.

Once in a while when I turn into an uphill driveway the car makes a "crack" sound.
It sounds like the body is flexing.
The noise doesn't seem to be coming from the hatch but from the middle area of the car.
I always have to check my roof because I think it may have cracked.
This happens at nighttime (cold temps) and the driveways are nothing more than gas station driveways that I drive up at an angle.

I go over speed bumps all day and night without such problems; just driveways.

Anyone else have this problem?

Sorry if its been covered before...searching only seems to give me rattling noises and fixes.

 

I believe it comes from the roof. I wouldn't worry too much about it...it only happens at certain angles and I haven't heard it in quite some time(heard it a lot more when I just bought the car)

 

I'm used to it...then again I only here the noise when I'm turning into a steep driveway or going over a "Big" speed bump at an angle

 

Yeah I think its from the roof. Some kinda stressing going on there. Its been doing that forever there so no worries!

 

I got a tC spec too and mine does it as well. Usually if theres a dip in the road or on sharp turns.

 

You guys on Crack???....lol...I never heard any noise before..i've had mine for over a year!...Yay 4 me!

 

yea its definitley the glass roof flexing on the rubber mounts.

 

Well I can understand it though, the Specs have a full glass roof that isnt "broken" into pieces like on the non-spec tC.

 

it ids the car flexing, i hear it alot.

 

I only started to hear that noise after my sunroof was replaced.

 

I have 07 base tC and I hear that too.

 

I've had my tC for just about 2 years now, and just recently starting hearing these cracks. I not only hear them from the roof, but started hearing them from the left A-pillar. The rattles / cracks /creaks only seem to get worse and worse with this car...

 

I hear it everytime I pull up my driveway, it's just the roof supports flexing as far as I know.

 

dont hear it in mine, but the one i test drove did it like a ****, it had like 20k on it(it was a trade in)

that was a Long time ago...and that was an 05, and i have an 07....maybe they worked some of it out in the later years or maybe i just got a good one :D

 

its body flex. nothing to worry about. ive had it in both of my tcs.

 

Sadly have to agree with that.

 

safe to say............. it's normal... unfortunately.

 

my new 07 does it to sometimes going on uneven hills or certain roads.

 

Mine does it too.

And yes. it's gotten worse after 2 years.

It gets irritating...

 

happens all the time to my 06, not really something i worry about
