19s and Potholes?
I am thinking about going with 19s, but I was told that as you run larger rims, you have to run with thinner tires unless if I am mistaken, so I am concerned about hitting or even bending the rims from potholes or whatever that could cause it. Has this happened to anyone running on 19s?
Since it has not been directly stated: Yes, you will need to run a shorter sidewall. A larger tire will not fit. The outer diameter of the tire is the same, but the wheel is taking up more room, so your sidewalls must shrink to accomodate.

what you want is a 40 series if you can fit it
i have 18's and i think they are perfect, all you have to do is lower the car a little and it brings new meaning to the wheels
but if you can, get your tires from tirerack.com they have a no haggle warranty, the tire pops you get another one for free, no questions asked
