adjusting front strut preload

So I have the CUSCO front strut bar for the tC. I installed it with the front wheels of my car on the ground so I am going to redo it again this time with the front wheels up.
anyways, my question is how should I adjust the preload on the bar? Similar to the Tanabe front strut bars, the CUSCO ones come with the ability to adjust the preload. Should i adjust it so that the strut pushes outward onto the struts or pulls inward towards the center of the car? Ive just left it neutral since its been installed on the car.
any help is appreciated
