Default alignment and camber questions

i went to get my alignment done at firestone today since the car was pulling to the left. the guy tells me that my front left camber is off and they would charge 96.95 for parts and labor to fix it. i decided not to do it for now and basically my alignment is still messed up. do i really have to pay for that? i thought that there was some degree of adjust ability with stock parts. im dropped on trd springs but i didnt think i would need anything else done to the car because its such a minor drop.

What parts would they be charging you for? I don't understand. Especially only on TRD springs.

I'd be taking it to a dealer. Pronto.

uh yeah there are no parts needed unless you bent something, did you hit a curb and knock out of alignment, orwhat happened......not gettign whole story here......from just adding springs it will not pull one way or the other.

there should be enough adjustability in the stock parts to correct for a trd drop. Im on hotchkis and i was able to zero out front camber and get the rear to -1.5 degrees. sounds like firestone is bein lazy

Could be left over... but I would still go to the dealer for this one instead.

Plus, if it is related to that hit, and you got it fixed through insurance, they might cover the repairs now as well. Depending on who you have anyway. Would be worth looking into.

ah problem was i didnt get it fixed at the dealer so im pretty sure they wont cover it under warranty. i really want to avoid using insurance again seeing as my rates are bad enough as it is. i guess i gotta suck it up and get it done? is this something that i could possibly even consider doing myself? i've installed i/h/e on my old car and intake on this car but i havent done anything suspension related aside from installing the trd rear sway bar. im thinking if i can just get this done ill just take it back to them to get aligned again because i paid for lifetime alignment.

I'm only suggesting the dealer b/c they should (?) know the tC a bit better than Firestone - meaning how much can be adjusted and if anything really needs to be replaced. Not really b/c of the warranty.

My point about the insurance was that if you had that initial hit repaired by insurance, and this turns out to be left over from it, it should be covered by that initial claim - but like I said, you have to check with your insurance on that one.

your front suspension has camber bolts. They bolt onto the bottom portion of the strut where it connects to the steering knuckle. it has some adjustment in the stock bolt, about 0.3 degrees. Any more than that and you need a combination of bolts that are available from Toyota. Here's a link to the factory front wheel alignment info.
It'll show you how depending on what you want to get to from what bolts you currently have. Firestone may be wanting to charge you to replace those bolts, but I think that it shouldn't be $96 worth, it's part of the alignment procedure. Personally I wouldn't trust Firestone at all. I'd rather have the dealer replace those bolts, but that's just me..

here's the link to help you understand what your tC has.
