I was just wondering if anyone else feels like the tC has to much bump steer? Ive had my tC for about 2 months and so far I love it except for all the bump steer. I live in MI so that could have something to do with it since our roads here are like a offroad trails....
i think you mean torque steer. when you punch the gas hard and feel the steering wheel pull or jerk becuase of the sudden power brought by Torque
not BUMP steer would be if you are driving at a normal speed and have a bumpy road or pot holes that pull your wheels and you feel the steering wheel jerk.

bump steer and torque steer is different. Having torque and FF doesnt create bump steer. Bump steer has to do with suspension and steering rack and pinion ratios
I notice bump steer in my tC. It is minor, but there. I have had the car for two days. It is a lot different than my previous car, so things like bump steer will stand out to me. But, I also notice the tC is very good about comunicating road conditions through the steering wheel, so I do not mind the bump steer. As for torque steer. I have not experienced that yet, still braking in the motor.
I get that only when I am up in Flint, MI for school.
Michigan roads are the worst ever. I mean, hummers wouldn't stand a chance!
Plus in Flint, GM unloaded all the Pontiac Aztecs so there are about 6 of em every where you look. yuck.

I was having the same problem, only combined with significant tramlining, which I attributed to the Pirellis that come on the RS. On the street, it wasn't too bad until I would go over some fairly significant bumps or deep ruts. But, on the freeway, it was aweful. I took the car back to the dealer and asked them to check the tire pressure, steering, tire balance and alignment, because the car felt dangerous over rain grooves and freeway bumps. The dealer returned the car to me after keeping it for several hours, saying, "The alignement and steering checked out, but the tire pressure was a bit off. It should be better now." HA
Well, I took the car over a bumpy strech of freeway and it was as bad as ever. So, I called Pirelli to arrange a tire swap, if necessary, and took the car to a local Pirelli dealer (Stokes tire in Santa Monica). After talking to Jake ( a real tire and suspension expert), he said that the Pirellis were fine and that he'd bet anything that the car's alignment was toed out, which is a disaster on FWD cars--makes them hunt and sway and "bump steer." I said, "the dealer just checked the alignment." He said, "yeah, sure. Let me fix it for you."
Anyway, after fifteen minutes my car was aligned properly (no longer toed out as Jake suspected), and it is a million times better. Also, after sometime on the phone with Scion, they are reimbursing me for the alignment cost because the dealer didn't fix it and the car has only 300 miles on it.
So, if you have a bit (or a lot) of bump steer, have your alignment checked. I'll bet it's toed out enough to be the cause.

I hate it when my steering jerks to one side... especially if i'm going fast... I have to hold onto the steering wheel harder now else I'll scrape into a divider.
Just let go and let God steer!

thanks to all in this thread. I've had a "weird thing" happen sometimes at about 70 mph. it sounds like what others here are experiencing. reading other's posts it makes sense that it's a toe issue. that's totally what it feels like. one wheel wants to go where the other one doesn't.
there's an alignment place next to precision muffler, comes highly recommended (folks on iclub.com also speak highly of it.) I think this coming week I'm gonna go and have my alignment done there...I'll let all of you know if a toe adjustment fixed the problem I have.
