Default Anyone here using H&R Coil-Overs?

Does anyone here have the H&R coil-overs installed on their tC? I've never used H&R- opinions anyone from previous/current use? Thanks.

I can't get them yet so I doubt they're out. It's probably a pre-sale that companies are neglecting to mention. When it's listed on my site, you'll know you can get it.

H&R makes great stuff btw, I have the sport springs on my tC. I hope KW eventually makes a system for us. They offer custom buildable spring rates, and build the most durable shock systems for resistance to corrosion. The only other comparable product is made by Progress. Both of those companies are great.

And how do you think they compare to, say the Tein coil-overs?

i think in the $750-850 range.. $1,300 for the H&R's is quite steep.. i'm sure well worth it but rough on the piggybank nonetheless.

Directly from Tein:
Basic Coil-Overs- $890
Super Street Coil-Overs- $1250
Super Street w/ Pillowball Uppermount Coil-Overs- $1400

But you can probably find them somewhere on the internet for less. I haven't had much luck finding the super street coil-overs on eBay though.

All things considered, supposing H&R & Tein cost the same, which would be a better choice? This will be a daily driver and I would like the suspension to be fully adjustable & easily adjustable. Thanks!

Do you mean height adjustment or dampening adjustment?

Dampening adjustment is usually pretty easy, but with the Teins you have to take off the wheels to adjust the ride height.

i heard that when you install coilovers you need to get it wieghed to make sure the balance is ok and stuff. or does it not really matter and you can just count up the threads and stuff?

I was asking about either, but when I read up on the Teins a little bit more, I found pretty much what you stated. Thanks!

adjustments on a coilover system are all basically the same. Unless you get that electronic adjustment thing that adjust the dampening from inside the car from tein.

How much do them coil overs go for.

I thought on TcTuners that there were 3 sets for sale. One for like 400 range 800 range and 1200 range. Ill have to double check.

Aren't the Progress coilovers more of a race setup? I thought the spring rate was pretty high on those.

My Tein Basics are kinda rough for daily driving. Luckily we have good roads here in WA, so its usually not an issue. I don't know how the roads are over there, but if they are pretty rough, and you are looking to keep your ride comfortable...then you may want to think again about getting coilovers.

Unfortunately we are kind of limited in our suspension choices right now. A Ground Control/Koni combo would be awesome, because you can customize the spring rates of the GCs when you order them. And you still have the ride height adjustability. But as far as I know, the GCs are out, but the Konis are not.

The Progress Tech kit is only height adjustable. The spring rates and shock combinations have been carefully chosen to provide a performance-oriented ride that has been tested and retested to work specifically with the tC chassis on a shock dyno. The combination was not chosen based on what everyone else is doing. The rates were picked to provide a ride that will perform on the street and the track, and give a compliant ride under many conditions without shaking the fillings out of your teeth!

Yes this kit will give you a firmer and more planted ride than what you get from the stock setup or the basic kits, and will be above and beyond your expectations!

We've talked in length with Progress Tech about this kit, and the amount of time and effort, R&D, and quality that they have put into this kit is above and beyond what other companies have. And it's why we are so excited to offer it to the tC crowd. We know that this kit is going to deliver exactly what you expect from a coil over kit and then some. Progress Tech and PartShippers is so confident that you will be completely satisfied with this kit, that if you're not, return it, and we will give you a full refund!

They have analysed and dyno-tested the other kits on the market that are comparable to this kit - specifically the Tein Super Street kit. The adjustable shocks actually provided very inconsistent results on the shock dyno.. the adjustment ranges were insignificant.

Progress didn't see the need to market and produce a feature in their kit that would only make the price of the kit more expensive and provide little value to the customer.

hope this answers your questions!
Dave

Let me know if you have any other questions.. just covering for Lip!

Which set of coilovers will give you the best ride quality out of all the ones that are out right now? I want to lower my car as I feel I want to so I dont want drop springs. But i dont want a horrible ride either. Some prices would be too

there is a set in the parts page on the site here for like 400 sumthin. Ground controls I think? Are they any good for daily driving? I dont wanna spend all kinds of money on coilovers. A thousand dollars is way out the question. A few hundred more and can bag it.
