Default b&g or trd

Im getting ready to buy coilovers within the next few days but im stuck between b&g's and trd's. Im looking to lower the car about 2.5 inches or so. The car will not be used for racing or anything just trying to get rid of all wheel gap. The reason im stuck is because i hear so many good reviews on both that i dont know which to pick. I love the stance on scion_jon's car and i no the b&g's can achieve that too.

for the people who own either the b&g's or trd's what are the ride qualities like? i know coilovers are not the smoothest riding suspension but how comfortable are they?
thanks

TRDs are just expensive Progress coilovers.

I'd say instead look for a set of H&R. Just over $1k shipped from allsprings.com.

Ya, that I can't speak to... I do know they don't tend to go as low as some others.

But like I said, if you're considering the TRDs, look at Progress instead. Should be able to find them cheaper and they're really just the same thing.

The spring rates for the Progress (TRD) coilovers are very soft so even when the car is slammed, the car still rides pretty smooth. Think S-Tech springs but lower than that and just as "smooth" with a better car response.

I'm not as familiar with B&G coils but I know a lot of people have them and love them. My brother should be chiming in on this with the B&G soon because he just bought them.

i guess im looking in the wrong spots because i cant find the progress coilovers for under 1200. TRD's are 1225 shipped to me from trdsparks.com

I say get the Tein SSP I have them and could not be more happy with em. Lastlookcustoms would hook you up if you wanted a set.

I have the b&g coils, and they are great. They went as low as I wanted them to and ride pretty smooth. I would recommend the b&g's if your wanting to slam your tc and have some performance.

B&G are more form then function, I say go with Tein SSPs or Progress Coils.

is there really that much difference between the tein ssp's and the basics besides price and the option of edfc?

yea, I dont think you can change the dampening on the basics but its up to you, if your just into looks then B&G are great. If your a little low on money, then get Progress coils which are pretty decent but if you want to invest in some quality coils, get the Tein SSPs. The pillowball mounts also acts as a dampening force. But IMO, I would rather get the B&Gs then get the Tein basics.

yeah money isnt really an issue right now but i dont wanna spend a crazy amount on coilovers when i still have a good amount of work to be done on the car. right now i think im leaning towards the progress/trd direction cause i hear they are smoother then others but i hear great things about the b+g's

you should really go to the calssified section and look at the sponsors sales. after that pm them for a price quote and guaranteed you would get a cheaper price for alot of the coilovers

go with H&R coil's

they're really comfy for coils. and it handles GREAT esp with the TRD Rear Sway.

Definetly look into them. however, they are not damper adjustable.

JIC anyone? Nah just kidding but I do love my JICs. Anyways, B&G have a good ride and allow the car to be dropped much more, but as Jon said, TRD has a great smooth ride.

if your going to get coils...I would go with HKS...these have drop your looking and are for daily driver since the spring rates are only 4K and 6k. When they were out they cost like 1,700.I got a set for sale for 1100shipped. anyone can tell these are great way better than b&g and TRD. H&R are coil but offer no dampening control...
