Battery Relocation?
I've seen several battery relocation threads here, but nobody seems to want to walk through how to do it. Can someone help me out please.

Because it's not worth the trouble.
I run a Magnapower AGM battery that weighs about 15lbs and cost about $80. It fits under the stock hold down, but the battery is on its side. Simple fix, lost about 10-15 lbs, without the added weight and complexity of relocation. |
P.s. Your battery is not part of your suspension... ;-)

i know its not part of the suspension, im just looking to get some crap out of the bay and i know relocating the battery to the trunk will help with weight distribution and therefore handling, however small it may be. im stripping the tc down for a track car so every little bit helps.

There has to be something on Youtube somewhere or something......just as long as positive battery cable going back up to front of car is in a place where it won't get cut, frayed, etc, go for it. There might be a kit at Summit Racing for cheap.

I do race. I bought my Magnapower at Meijer. I think most auto parts stores carry them. Mine has 330CCA for a driven racecar. You can go even smaller for a trailer queen. Don't forget your relocation kit includes at least one very long cable, and the mounting box, and the weight benefits are smaller. Look at DG Spec's tC. See what he does.
What do you weigh? I see racers all the time spending money on weight reduction on the car, when they didn't look in the Mirror. |
I almost forgot. Measure your hold down, and get the Magnapower that has that dimension for the widest dimension. Lay the battery down, and mount it. I did modify my cable ends because I bought a motorcycle battery. If you drive your car, a 10 pound battery isn't recommended.

sweet. ill definitely look at the magnapower. i only weigh 155 and im right at 6 feet tall. so i cant really lose any more weight myself. lol. thanks for the help.

If you have a "system" then getting a lighter battery won't help. And moving it to the rear you will never feel the "advantage" of it.
