Default Best Autocross Suspension?

Update 2/12/2011

got rid of the Racelands shortly after 8 months.. they kept locking up the threads, the shafts kept drying ( had to lithium grease them up a few times) drivers side started to sag and no matter how much i would lift it. it wouldnt adjust to the new height settings. they went from stiff to soft/med stiffness.. uh yea... parted ways with em

Update 12/09/2009

they are giving me clunking noises and starting to sag.. /gasp

Update: 11/04/2009

This thread is loaded with lots of info on serious suspension, brakes, tires, sways, seats, helmets and all loads of other information for Auto X. If you have any questions or would like to add some more info feel free as this thread has become a monster load of valuable info. I would advise to read the thread first as your questions may have already been answered.

- Cheers

-------------------------------------------

Ok so some of you know I'm rocking the racelands - but this was temporary to see how they were, give a review and now the time has come to get another suspension. I got them to give a review to the SL community. As many questions were raised on these.. I've only had them on for a month so far and I can tell they still need to settle.I know there is more trusted suspension out there especially with what im trying to do (auto cross). I have been searching the forums but cant seem to find much on auto X and suspension. So my question is for you exeperienced autocrossers. What is the best Coilover for auto X in your opinion and why?

I'm eying Tiens, D2's (maybe) and Progress

Thank you in advance

I'M one of the best for autox/road racing would be JIC coilovers. they have a good spring rating. I think rado runs them on his car.

u autox'd the racelands? how were they? what are u gonna do with them now haha

the racelands can handle the abuse but they make clanking noises every now and then so thats got me worried. Im gunna sell them for like 150 + shipping ill make the FS thread when the time comes. lol..that is if i havent found a fix or what is wrong with them.. I have been eying those JIC Co's. They are pricey though. do you know were I can find them under 2k? by chance? if not i may just have to wait untill next month to buy them cuz im getting a trd vortex SC next week XD cant wait

crapy diamondbacks for now soon to be replaced by BFG G Force Sports on stock 17s for now. I dont want to upgrade the tires till i get the suspension. my winter project for now will be Suspension and tires this includes swaybars, camber links, ingalls 4 point brace and a cheapy cpillar to keep it stiff up top and if all goes to plan a CF roof by jan/feb:D. all while slowly buying all the right parts for the SC since theres really no rush to install it (arp head studs, new motor mounts, pulley, injecotrs, turbo timer, gator belt ect.)

I would stay away from the charger. its been discontinued and its nothing but a headache for people. sway bars are a must. cpillar won't do anything but look good.

C-Pillar bar will do something if he has coilovers. It has to do with spring rate and crap like that, I forget the explanation Toan gave me.

It simply isn't worth the money. It barely makes any extra power, it's unreliable, etc.

wait? your getting the supercharger?

Trust me, the supercharger is not worth it. I would gladly choose supercharger over turbo on a lot of other cars, but ours, no.

For $1100 more, you can have 100 more WHP with a turbo, to be specific, my turbo lol.

its also a DD i dont plan on doing any modifications for looks to keep the heat off me.. but if i went turbo for me its just too much power. i only want about 220-240hp max with SC and a couple other minor mods its very easy to reach this goal. plus i imagine with a SC being more of a low RPM boost its perfect for auto X. This is just my theory but plz if its really that bad to get the better end TRD vortex SC let me know more about this... i then may just stay N/A .

my goals:

make the car handle like a dream
add a few HP's
make the car lighter

call it a day

its not easy to reach 240 with a SC. u need ALOT of work to get there. SC on a DD is unreliable bc they break down no matter which version u have. They all were made by vortex. ull need I/H/E/P/piggy back & Tune to come anywhere close to that and by that point ud wish u woulda gone turbo.

its discontinued for a reason too, all the problems and warranty issues it had and the economy. its just not worth it. stay NA and work the ____ out of ur suspension. sways, coilovers, cpillar, strutbar, rear brace,Energy engine mounts, brake upgrade etc. car wont handle like a dream with a charger i guarantee u

no problem man. but suspension work for autox is a must bro.

i actually am not running anything. i stay at stock suspension cause i never auto x, race etc. i live in NYC too which is why in the pasty 4 yrs that ive owned my car never even put springs on them (except for trd springs that i sold) but i know enough about suspension parts etc. from what i read these are a good choice. Rado use to run these and are known for Function>form. These coilovers dont even go very low for that soul purpose to perform over looks. i think the lowest these drop are 2.5"? over others that are 3" and more.

i actually was looking for racelands cause im finally jus fed up and wanna lower my car and not have to worry about spending so much jus incase anything happens in NYC streets.
