Default Which is better? Tein S-Techs or TRD lowering springs...

I am debating which springs i should buy. I really like the look of the Tein S-Techs... but i am worried that i will scrape too much on bumps or anywhere on the road. Also, if i have like 3 other people in my car, i don't know if the tires will rub? How likely am i to scrape with these springs.. because i am kinda leaning more toward the TRD lowering springs. I just don't want to waste my money on the TRDs, and not be satisfied with them. I feel if i buy the TRDs, i wont notice any drop or any difference in handling... Someone tell me what to buy....

TRD will always be more expensive.
I just installed my s-techs and they run fine un less you hit major potholes or speedbumps at 15+

TRD springs are going for $144 on McGeorge parts right now which is very close to what most are selling the Teins for. As far as drops go, the TRD is noticeable and but subtle very nice looking. The Tein will give more of a dropped and a lower "slammed" look and be more prone to scraping, but your results may vary. Either way you will notice both a visual and perrformance difference.

How low is the front of your car from the road to the bumper with the Tein S-Techs. My state law is that my car can't be lower than 4 inches from the ground. If they are too low, what other suspension should i get that is lower than TRD, cheap and is above 4 inches from the ground

I live in Connecticut.... the laws suck. i measured out my car and with the teins it just passes the law. it is like .2 or .3 inches higher than four inches... which is why i am questioning if i should buy them or other ones

What is a good set of springs that are a little higher than the teins, but much lower than the TRDs. Im lookin for the 1.8 inches to 2 inches maximum for both front and rear

I got the TRD Springs with my Tc. I have to say that I really like them. They are not as low as others but, if you worry about bottoming out then stick with the TRD. I got a 1.5 inch drop in the rear and a 1.25 in front. The TRD's give the car a nice stance and a very nice ride quality. Hope that helps

I went with the Hotchkis springs 1.7" drop in the front and a 1.97" in the back. I went with the TRD shocks and struts and it rides and performs really well.
I would say, go with what you like. You're probably going to bottom out, or scrape on driveways with whatever you go with. Just my 2 cents.

s-techs are VERY nice, not expensive, but you definately need struts and sway bars to go along with them.

If in doubt go with TRD. If your worried about laws and scraping, TRD's are the way to go. And you'll definately notice the drop. Some of the pictures on here are of TRD's right after they've been installed and it takes about 2 weeks for them to fully settle. Here's mine on TRD's.

I know its not one of your decisions, but its the best decision i made when coming to suspension.
No rubbing, nice handling, clean and even drop!

Hotchkis!
