Default Brake air ducting?

Has anyone modded the small scoops (under the headlights) to push forced air onto the brakes?
It seems to me this would not only make the brakes/bearings run cooler, but also possible increase air flow thru the front...creating less drag.

Anyone got any info on this?

It might help even a little by removing the solid inserts and maybe fitting a mesh piece into it's place. That way you're blocking stones and such, but would allow airflow.

As for directing the airflow where you want it, I don't know.

even if u modded the small holes under the headlight, how would you get the air passed the inner fenderwall plastic to your brakes. u'd have to cut a hole into that and it might not even work. not worth it imo.

There are some BMW's (and Lexus', I think?) that have some sort of plastic ducting built into the space between the grill and the inner fender.

I was just kinda wondering if anyone had tried to do anything like this. Pics?

Idealy you would want to route air to the center of the rotor. Brak rotors push air out from the center. This would help keeps the brakes cooler, but isn't required unless there are heat issues with the brakes.

I've been thinking about this for awhile. This setup actually comes stock on the JDM Honda Integra Type R, rather than the North American RSX Type S's fog lights.

Shouldn't be too hard to fab up.

You know, I like where this idea is going tho. I'm sure you could fab it to send more air into the engine bay. Right? Or if you have a CAI you can push air towards that... am I wrong?

glitterboy-the weapon r ram air kit pulls air from that fake air vent thru a hose that goes up into the wheelwell and attaches the to secret weapon filter.

Ah, I did not know that. Another thing for me to consider when I purchase a CAI.

You want the air ducts to dump out right at the rotor, typically by replacing or cutting a hole in the brake rotor splash guard. Here's a kit for BMWs that could be adapted. Places with real racing parts (like Pegasus Racing) have all the parts you need to do it yourself.
