Default BRAKE PAD Question.

Well its come to the point where i need new front brake pads. I'm N/A so no need for track pads but i do like going fast and stopping on time. I also want ones that give off REALLY REALLY low dust. thats my main concern. Ones also that grab pretty good and bite relatively hard. And of course pretty cheap too. Help me out? Remember low dust. I hate cleaning the sh*t outta my rims. lol.

We have plenty of pads to choose from and many will not break the bank.

Great pads with not a ton of dust. A little pricey though, but a good pad.

Do you have an opinion between Hawk and EBC red?
And Paul, I should've bought your na s-pipe back catback. Instead I bought the ARC and everyday I wish I'd bought yours. Anyway.

Our Performance exhaust is really nice sounding and IMO, is THE BEST one out for this app. We used a couple of different muffler, tip and resonator designs before settling down with the current one.

I am not a fan of the EBC pads. I used them on one of my old cars and the bite was good, but dust was horrible and so was noise. Not to mention, after just a few spirited runs, they toasted my rotors.

EBC red stuff has a new compound... Great bite with less dust than before. Hawk is fine but they wear out rotors pretty quickly. With the ebc if you bed them correctly they will be your best all around pad! Not bad on sounds either. Hope this helps.

I am running the Stop Techs for daily driving and autox and have been very pleased with them. Dont skip the bed in process, it pays dividends in stopping performance! Got them from Dezod of course.

I appreciate the input guys. I just got my stoptech slotted rotors and wanted to get some nice pads before install. So I guess ill be getting the stoptech pads then . When you say bed in process bro do you mean once installed I do the stop and go thing from like 60 down to 5 and so on to break in the pads and to get rid of the glaze on the rotors.

Paul how much for the Stoptech pads for the front/rear for my TC. Thanks

You can price them on dezods website

Yep, that is the process. Basically, a very hard braking maneuver from 60 to 10 mph (dont stop), then back up to 60mph and repeat. Do that 10 times. You will have to find a suitable road without much traffic (I do it later at night on a back road with no stop signs on it) to do it on. After number 10, drive at about 60mph for a little while in order to cool them back down, then repeat the process again.

You will notice the smell of hot brakes and smoke from them after the first 5 stops or so. They will start to fade by the last few stops. After it is all done, the performance of the pads will be a lot better than out of the box.

If you must stop for some reason while you have them that hot, I recommend you get it down to 5mph, let off the brake and stop gently with the ebrake. You want to avoid stopping completely with the brakes applied while they are that hot.

Pads are here. http://www.dezod.com/cat-brake-pads3.cfm

To the one poster about Hawk wearing out rotors, not true. I had almost 40K on my rotors and Hawk pads with ZERO signs of serious wear.

40k on pads...daily... I get two weekends at the track which comes out to about 500 miles and pads are toast. Hawks wore out my rotors in 3 weekends. The EBC red last the same but rotors have been holding up much better. IMO many factors can play a role in rotor wear. I want to put that out there. Hope this helps.

That plays a HUGE role. A race car will chew through components faster than any street car. Simple as that.
