Brakes!?
Hey guys i have a question im looking for some cheep brake calipers something better than OEM but i dont have the money to spend 1500 for some brakes. I was looking for some cheep brake calipers but could find anything. What would be a good way to upgrade my brakes and still save some cash? I can find a couple of rotors slotted and drilled for some good prices but not calipers.
Im just trying to upgrade my brakes so i can feel safe when i boost my Tc.
Any help would be nice thanks

Okay cool thanks.
Did you ever find that link for it? And thats just front brakes right? Should i even up grade the rear brakes i was thinking for the rear maybe just getting slotted rotors and maybe some good brake pads? I dont really know a lot about brakes so thats why im asking so many questions.

To be honest, you don't need to upgrade for safety. The OEM calipers are more than sufficient. However, getting more braking power is recommended if you are going to do lots of high speed stopping. There is a caliper relocation kit that allows for a larger brake disc but still uses the OEM caliper and hardware. It comes with the relocation brackets and bigger discs. The rears don't really do much braking (15%) but if it makes you feel better to get slotted rotors (drilled sucks IMO) and some better pads, then go for it. Powerslot offers the rear kit as well but for 330 bucks without pads for the rears isn't justified when a set of nice pads alone would do the trick. Grab the EBC pads of your choice for the front and back and enjoy better braking.

I would love to use my OEM calipers its just it feels like my brakes suck right now thats why i wanted to upgrade. I know they work good and they stop my car okay when at high speed but i just drive my GirlFriends 350z and her brakes work really good and her ABS is out right now and she still stops crazy fast but not to safe cuz her ABS just went out lol.
For the Front relocation kit is there any place i could just get the relocation brackets? 550 is kinda a lot for brackets and rotors.
I found some slotted rotors here at this link on ebay for a pretty good price.

The rotors you'll find for our car aren't the larger size required for the upgrade kit. To pinch even more pennies but still get better braking, just get a set of slotted OEM size rotors with EBC pads and get a set of stainless braided brake lines installed. That will give you a very nice firm pedal feel and much better braking. Don't forget that a LOT of your braking has to do with your tires and the way the suspension reacts to the negative G-Forces upon stopping. The 350Z is not comparable to the TC because it has much more tire and much more weight sitting on those front brakes. Not to mention the caliper is naturally bigger because the car weighs a ton.
Should I get a set of OEM size rotors slotted and the relocation brackets with the EBC pads? Does the relocation brackets movie the caliper a lot because if the caliper is closer to the driver dont you get better stopping power instead of the caliper being in the front closer to the bumper. I hope you understood that lol. Oh and the 350z is about 200 Pounds lighter than the Tc any ways thanks for your all of your help.
No, the relocation brackets move the caliper farther away from the center of the wheel giving you more braking torque. Hence the larger rotors that come with them.
In regards to the 350Z weight, being 200 lbs lighter means better braking
I wasn't trying to compare the weights, I was just mentioning that for cars in it's class, it's a heavyweight. Some may be lighter or heavier but it doesn't feel as nimble as it should in my opinion but still a fun car for sure.
Anyway, back on topic, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at a GOOD set of slotted rotors, stainless brake lines, and EBC pads all the way around (OEM size). Your wallet will definitely thank you as well.
Sure as hell beats buying these (although they are pretty pimp).

Okay thanks i think ill just do everything you said ha. And for the stainless brake lines any stainless brake lines or is there some brand i should go with? Also for the EBC pads what color should i go with im guessing Yellow is the best? And this might sound a little dump but Brake fluid just anything you get at the auto stores?
Brake Lines:

In regards to the fluid, just use DOT 3 from the parts stores. If they have a name brand vs. a store brand, spend the few extra bucks. Ultimately, you're just bleeding it anyway, not flushing it completely. You'll only have to do this because of changing the brake lines. You could also pay a shop to bleed them if you're not comfortable in doing so. There are plenty of how-to guides on scionlife to walk you through the process of swapping everything out.

Like it was said, just getting bigger brakes because you're going to boost down the road won't really help. Plus 95% of the time you use you're brakes, you won't be going 100+ (or shouldn't at least) Comparing how one car brakes to how another does will give you sort of a false feeling. Upgrading the pads will do wonders. I would start small and work up. No need to blow 500+ on a kit to get bigger if you don't really need it.
Also like was said, drilled isn't great. I honestly believe most people get drilled because it "looks" cool or because race cars have them. Honestly on the street you just won't need it. Plus drilled rotors on the street are known to crack a lot easier because of temperature variants. Plus the added stress of holes in the rotors and possible stress fractures from drilling. (mainly cheaper brands) Slotted rotors are fine, and maybe even some dimpled rotors. (similar to drilled, but do not go all the way through the rotor, less cracking) But, once again in my opinion, going ***** to the walls because of a feeling from another car, and thinking you'll be flying around cars everyday isn't really a good idea. It might be easier to wait until you feel you truly need the upgrade.

Question to the OP: What is your current brake setup? Bone stock?
A good upgrade would be the Stoptech Stage2 or the Stage1 + some high quality blank rotors. If you're thorough in bleeding and bedding everything in properly then either of those will more than handle a boosted tC.

My OEM setup handled my near 300 whp setup just fine. Even from 144-60 mph stops. (yeah that's right, no speed limiter
) I didn't do any autocross or anything though that would severely tax the brake system. Panic and safety stopping is covered just fine by the OEM in my opinion.
This is what I got and they have been great. They are made out of centric premium blanks, can't beat the price for the quality you get.
