Default Change stock wheels??? or suspension???

I have an 08 tC and like everything about it. The only thing that bothers me is the way it drive on the road. The car is not smooth at all and every time I go over a small crack or loop hole or watever it feels like the car is being pulled down....I just don't like the feelings of having too much contact with the road...

My question is it because the tC stock wheels is 17in with a very THIN tires causes this to happened? or is it because of the stiff suspension? or what is it?

I dont feel uncomfortable or stiff ride with my other cars and they have 16in wheels to them and they are soo Smooth...whenever I go over a crack I didn't even feel it. This is what I want on my tC

What should I do to give my tC a better SMOOTH ride? Should I change the rims size, tire size? suspension? springs?

Any suggesstions would be helpful. Thanks alot.

I am going to assume other cars you have driven were domestic? Imports as a whole tend to have more road feel. IN regards to what you can do to soften the ride on your stock TC. Sad to say in your case but to the best of my knowledge nothing unless you want to fill it with A ton of Charmin double rolls? lol

i would change the shocks cause that was absorbs the bumps so you dont feel it..tires really doesnt have and affect on the way your car drives maybe better grip on the road but yea suspension plays a big role in what your talking about

to tell u the truth man. springs and struts do two things. better handling and more contact with the road. when i mean more contact with the road i mean that your going to feel every bump because thats what racing springs and struts are used for. This will definitely make it stiffer tho. Maybe you should try coilovers

Huh? Dude, what cars have you been riding in? A TC has a very soft suspension in stock form. Yea you get a little more road feel/noise due to low profile tires, but that's a good thing...

oh so you think the road feel/noise caused by the low profile tires and not the suspension?

the low pro tires will definitely cause bumps to be more unpleasant when riding over them, but all upgrading your shock/struts will do will make the ride even stiffer. The ride is smoother and bumps are not felt as much in your other car because like you said they have 16" wheels and are probably 55 or 60 series tires. Our tires are 45 series tires so obviously the sidewall is much smaller. Just do your best to avoid huge gaping potholes because they will put bubbles on your tires or even worse bend your rims. If your looking for a nice smooth all season tire that's quiet, and has decent wet/dry traction try out the General Altimax HP.

That really make a lot of sense. Just to be curious can I put 55 series tires in our stock rims? Thanks in advance

ummm...I'm not too sure. I would talk to your local tire shop and see what sizes are available in 17 inch rims but im pretty sure its possible. Another alternative would be to just get a set of 15" steel rims and could probably put some 195/55/15 tires on. But it definitely wouldn't look as good. In my opinion the way our cars look they look a little wierd without low profile tires, but if your willing to sacrifice looks for comfort then maybe u can check out either putting a larger side wall tire on your stock rims, getting 15" rims and tires. I can tell you right now you can get 15" tires for dirt cheap, rims also. That would be a good option for next winter as well if you get snow where you live

You could definitely go with a 205/50 on the stock wheels, which might be enough to give you the cushion (~6mm > stock) you want.

Yea and 205/50 will be pretty good in the snow too. Much better than the stock 215/45

what do u mean that look like the stock tires?? U mean tires that are low profile just like the stock tires?? If that's what you mean Id recommend the General Altimax HP if your looking for Excellent wet traction, decent treadwear, and probably the best comfort/noise. If you want something with a little more grip i'd say probably the Bridgestone Potentza Pole Position
