cons of coilovers (i heard) are they true?
i heard that the coilovers would rub with the sway bars... is that true? it is bad?
certain combinations of sway/coilovers do cause rubbing issues.
for example the hotchiks? (which one? front or rear?)
my tein ssps rub the steering arm against the stock swaybar under full lock left or right and only if they are either compressed or flexed. all you need is shorter swaybar endlinks.
Im going to be cutting mine and rewelding them back together with a sleeve around them for strenth |
which sway bars are the best combination for the teins?
I dont know, I have the stock ones on and i like them enough to not change them at this time. I already have no body roll unless i take a corner HARD but at that point, im more worried about my stock tires breaking loose than anything else
if the sway bars only help in the hard cornering? so... if I dont plan to cornering, the stock ones are ok?
my tein SSPs rubbed against the front stock swaybar at full lock turns. this happened only at slow 3-pt U turns, not regular driving.
after i raised it up a little, the rubbing went away. I'm about 2-2.25 inches dropped. |
for my application the stock bars are fine.
Also, i have my coilover set at the height from the factory. I have not changed the height at all. but i like the height so im leaving it and modifying the stock sway bar |
cost is the only con

How does the cold/ winter effect CO's?
For some people, they got sqeaking noises while they were cold.
The sway bar rubbing issue is entirely drop dependent. If you get rubbing at full lock, just raise the car up a little.
