The three point strut is cool, but Dan brings a critical point about drilling into the firewall. Are many of you prepared to do so if this comes about?

 

i am prepared to drill into the firewall and what looks like weld the mounts to the strut tower.

 

id be down, id like to see what the area where its mounted at the firewall looks like. and my only concern is how close the crossbar is to the motor. but it looks way more functional than any strut bar out for the tC

 

I just placed the endlinks on the stuffiest setting and lubed the bushings a bit more. Actually I lube it a lot more. The bar is quite now but it seems like the lube that came with the bar isn't really durable.

 

i used anti seize

 

meh...its squeaky again. The silence only lasted for a few hours and now its back to blah. Maybe I will try some KY Jelly.

 

Like people have already stated. These are poly bushings. They WILL squeak to some degree no matter what. Doesnt matter how good the lube is. You may get rid of most of it for a while, but you will still have some squeak. Welcome to the world of track equipment ;)

As far as the front strut tie... they do practically zero for someone driving on the street, and even autox or weekend warrior guys will see small benefits at best from it. I got my car with the hotchkis one, but wouldnt go out and spend good money on one if I didnt already have it. Now, when thousanths count in a full on competition event on a longer track, then I could see wanting it.

hows the anti-seize working for you?

 

How loud does it squeak, so loud that you can hear inside of the car ?
I don't even think i'll be ever to hear over my exhaust but we'll see in october.

 

take out the black rubber or whatever it call. spray the white lithium grease on the bar where the black rubber sit. it should help to stop the noise. that was what I did today. I drove around and past the speed bump. no more squeaking noise.

 

Is your car lowered?

 

well, I have TEIN H tech

 

so i just put the bar on i got right....did these steps
1. jacked the car up and put on stands
2. took the stock bar off
3.lubed up the bushings put those on then the brackets over on the outside of the protruding ring around the new sway
4. didnt know how to position the sway once semi tightened down onto the mounts so i just kind of aimed the arms where the endlinks connect between the upper and lower control arms?
5. jacked my two back wheels up to a point where the car wasnt lifted off the jack stands and the wheels were up as high as they could go. would that be considered a static ride height to adjust the endlinks?
6. set the endlinks on the outside and put them on the middle setting and made sure everything was straight as possible i have some pictures ill put up later to make sure i did everything right.

what do you guys think? mission accomplished or did i do a couple things wrong?

 

Not sure if you did step 5 right. Read a couple of post back, Gardner says, you need to sit the car on ramps in order to adjust the endlinks, otherwise your endlinks will bind.

 

Yeah, step 5 may be incorrect. Put it on ramps or park the rear tires on the edge of the driveway/curb (with e-brake on of course and car safely parked) to make sure there is full load on the rear. And yes, looking from the rear of the car the endlinks should be vertical.

After tightening the sway all the way on the mounts, you want the sway as parallel to the ground as possible, but make sure you have enough clearance so you're not rubbing the sway on anything.

 

alright well i didnt have ramps where i was adjusting them at but i do at my house so thats good.

 

i just used bricks.

 

so you just lowered the car tires onto bricks so there was load on the suspension?
