Default Dealer Spring Install Time in Service Book

Well, Im getting a very, VERY, very good rate from a dealer for labor. Just wondering how long a spring install takes in the "book"? That way I know whether to bother asking to get stuff installed cuz if its too much, even with cheap labor, prob better off doing it myself. Though keeping warranty does sound nice.

HAHA, and at the rate Im being offered, they will prob want 5-6 hours for each spring. Thanks for the info though. If it's 4hours, then its still reasonable, anything more and Ill just do it myslef.

actually .. doing it yourself is a good idea.. (assuming your able to turn a wrench)... it allows you to get better aquanted with the car.. it is a very tedious process though.. there is alot to be taken out from inside the car to get to the strut mounts.. but removing the struts and springs is pretty easy... if you have a autozone near you you can get spring compressors.. ... they have a tool lending program... it actually does not cost you anything.. just a deposit..

if you have never done anything like this plan on a weekend just to give yourself plenty of time..... i was able to get the trd springs and sway bar installed within 4 hours..

yeah, Ive done it numerous times on my last car; coilovers and springs/struts. But since the dealer install keeps warranty, I just wanted to know a rough timetable to see if it was worth it since most shops charge ~100 for spring install. I guess Im just gonna call up and ask them how much time their going to charge for, since 4 hours doesnt sound bad at the rate they are offering.

Too bad you're in the MA and not the CA. I got mine installed in 70 mins for all 4 Springs! (Cost was $125.) Of course, I didn't go to a dealer.

i say try a customs shop, dealers are way way overpriced, took me and somone else (Gortok on SL) about an hour to install the springs and almost 2 for the stubborn alignment. all free.

The car keeps its warrenty, even if you put the springs on yourself. The only way it would void the warrenty is if the springs could be connected to a part failure on your car. Something like premature strut failure or something like that. If you put on the springs yourself, your car is still covered.

Warranty.

but yes, your covered even if you put them on yourself
but having a dealer do it ensures no issues/no hassle will occur IF a problem arrises, working at a dealer myself, when customers come in having done suspension mods themselves WE CHARGE to diagnose the problem, no matter what the case.

My dealer has a flat rate charge for the TRD spring install. $200, regardless of how long it takes them to do it. Including the cost of springs, my total bill was $399.

I got my TRD Springs, Rear Sway and Injen CAI installed for like $250 at a local shop. 9secondracing.com (discovered they were like 5 minutes away from my house ). Dealer was going to charge me $600 for the install of the springs and sway alone.
