every dealer has a different price because they all have a different labor rate, ours is $99/hr. i've heard some places in the bay area get up to $120/hr.

wow youre being ripped off. i'd be glad to do that job for you for just 100 bucks or less. but youre far lol. uhm find a diy honestly it isnt hard to do. and plus its just 35 dollars to do alignment. and no matter what even if a dealer or someone installs it there will still be problems like a negative camber and all that stuff thats what the camber kits are for yup yup =]

ok so heres my question. is getting trd parts installed at a mom and pop shop going to void the warranty of the car? because i know a shop around my area that would install springs for me for like 90 bucks but im affraid of voiding the warranty. sorry if im thread jacking.

but yea dude thats a hell of a price to pay for easy installations. id only pay that much if it thats the only way of modifying my car without voiding the warranty.

why do you guys keep calling the dealership if you know their prices are high? as with any business, they are there to make money not work on your car for free. our labor rate is $99 so 99 x how ever many hours it calls for ( probably4-5 maybe more) thats 400-500 right there. if you want it cheap, go to a ghetto shop and have them do it for 100.

because it is nice to have a dealership install the parts so if anything goes wrong, there is no question as to whether or not the parts were installed properly. i like my dealership. they have pc's with internet access, tv's with news and daytime soaps on. take a tour of the lot, see if there are interesting used cars for sale. my dealership has a loaner car agreement so that whenever i drop off my car, even for an oil change, i can get a loaner car for the whole day!

but is that worth over $900 when a local garage will do it for under 400?

also, as a business, they repeal customers with such outrageous prices. they should take note and lower labor prices for larger customer volume.

i'm sure it does, but am i going to pay twice the price for similar services? these are scions, not porsches, bmw's lamborghini's etc. it shouldn't be that expensive to have the car worked on.

i sure hope none of u low ballers that own a scion, ever become a mechanic at a scion dealwrship, because u guys sure would be working for free, u guys alweays bash dealership prices, how do u expect a dealership to run, just by selling cars alone , they already make nothing much when u purchase the car , for a dealership to be kept open it depends on cash work to pay techs and other personell in the service dept, and seeing scion makes such a great product there aint much warranty work to be done on these fine automobiles, so my advise to all u cheap skates , is if u cant afford servicing, maintenance and having all the goodies done to your car u shouldnt own one, and last but not least, u guys went out and buy the car scion didnt force u to buy it, u guys are just like the customers i deal wid everyday who buys a lexus and want to go to pepboys for all your car servicing, like it says u get what u pay for at them local cheap shops

In all seriousness.

You are getting absolutely RAPED by getting them to install any of these parts.

Install them yourself. The only reason why getting a dealer to do it is justifiable, is if you live in the inner city. If you have a shady spot, a cheap wrench set, a small hydro-lift and jackstands, you can do it yourself in AN HOUR OR LESS.

Think about it. That's another $200 you can spend on another part, gas, or pay down a credit card. Usually a waste of money.

I can't stress how easy it actually is to do it yourself. The swaybar is seriously 6 bolts total. It is more time consuming to jack up the car, put it on jackstands, and take the wheels off ... than it is to remove the old swaybar and install the new one.

You might learn a thing or two about your car in the process.

***Does not apply for very advanced engine work, such as pulling the motor/swapping bottom end/ etc. But truly, 90% of the "little" mods people on this site do can be done yourself for free.

I was getting my TC serviced and had the TRD rear sway bar installed at the same time for $36.00. That night while driving home from work I heard a pop in the rear while I was taking off from a stop. The control arm bolt broke!! Took it back in the next morning, they gave me a loaner, had to order a new part and got the car back the next day. Sometimes they probably lose money on installs,

29 dollars to install a strut tower brace? Installing it is real easy. try it yourself.
