^^Ya, I love Wheel Max.
I think I will order some 18's in a week or so.

Im just kinda nervous about the 1/4 mile time, I dont plan on racing like every week. but witht he CIA, and Exhaust, and misc Bolt Ons, you bet ima race a few times...

But what ALOT of people been saying, it depends on the weight of the rim.
Are the STOCK rims alone really only 20 LBS?!?

Your stock 17's weight 19.5 lbs. According to the shipping scale we use here at the dealership. It weighs in 1/2 pound increments so it may vary a few ounces.
The 18's are only 1 pound more. BUT not all 18 in wheels are that lite. Most of them are 22+ lbs.

I found something interesting out though the Pirelli P-Zero Nero's they use for the 18's at the dealer are actually 1 pound lighter that the 17 in Potenzas. 22lbs vs 23lbs so even if you went with the factory 18's you would keep the same over all weight. Nice to know!

Im really surprised the Toyota 18s are that light, They look so heavy to me? lol

Anyway, thanks yall, I guess I will go as light as I can, and hope my over all 1/4 mile time isn't drastically affected!!

The stock 17's really look good, but since I don't plan on doing to many exterior mods; rims are my only other choice, except for my already installed TRD Exhaust, and possible (but unlikely) Aftermarket Grille upgrade.

I have 18 in Konig Unknowns on my 06 TC and for one thing they handle a HELL of a lot better than the stock 17's. I definitely notice a difference in the corner handling and everything. In regards to the difference in the speedometer i was actually informed by the dealership when i bought my 06 in Sept. that the TC has a chip built into it to adjust the speedometer etc for the change in rim size. Dont know is this is all too late but thought i would put my 2 cents in.

SWEET! I just found out that the 18's that I want are only 22 LBS each, that is just the weight of the rims...so that makes me feel better, that it doesn't affect the performance/Speed of my car (that bad).

Thanks Again Yall.

PS, I wonder if this thread should be copied in a FAQ section??

You will definitely feel the difference going from an 18.5lb 17" wheel to a 22lb 18" wheel. All performance aspects will suffer (acceleration, braking, cornering). I hope they're very good looking wheels, because you're making big sacrifices by choosing them. Just FYI.

ACCORDING to my calculations if you had gotten the 18 in wheels when you first got the car you would have saved yourself a lot of money heh heh

oh, good for you. I do drive the car everyday, but do/will not race it offen, i like having the car just for "props" alone, and its fun to drive :D

Hey, are there many tCs around Hampton/Newport News?
I will be in Newport News for a few weeks around Christmas. Usually when I go there, there are quite a few imports and stuff around.

Not a true statement, unless you are talking about the Toyota Upgrades.
And either way, you STILL have to pay the $1500...

If you go aftermarket, it doesn't matter if you get something now or a year from now...
Maybe i'm just not seeing your view point....

Deffinetly not cheaper from Toyota. They wanted 1650 for the 18's and everykid whose mommy and daddy is paying the car payment will get them just because. I went aftermarket because not as many people are likely to have them and be able to spend the money over the car.

I know Rota makes some nice light wheels but they are mainly smaller diameter so that might not help you. But for those of you who are looking for light weight, inexpensive wheels, give rota a google and find out. I know they are pretty popular with the Honda guys. Just my .02
