Front brake line questions
Hey, I was installing my stainless brake lines and I did the rear and bled the brakes and all that. I moved onto the front and the 10mm nut that connects the hard line to the stock rubber line is already rounded off. I've done multiple searches on what this part would be but I have come up with nothing, only threads about stainless lines. So what I'm asking is does anyone know what this part is called or had the same problem and cost to get it repaired? Thanks
if it's already rounded someone before you did that damage. It's just a flare nut, most likely you'll have to cut the flare off the line, take the nut off, put a new nut on, re-flare the line and connect your flexible brake hose to the hard line. Otherwise you'll need a new toyota hard line, which isn't cheap. To repair the existing one, get a mechanic who knows what they're doing, they can salvage that. If they're good they can cut a tiny amount of length off the hard line without it affecting much before re-flaring it. i'd say $80-100 at the most with a good mechanic.
EDIT: for the rest reading this.. USE A FLARE NUT WRENCH when removing the fuel or brake hard lines. That way it has less of a chance of rounding the nut.
