Default FRONT SWAY BAR QUESTIONS

Here we go...

What is the OEM sway bar diamater on TC?
Is there an upgrade available for just the front (I have the TRD in the rear)
How about poly bushings for the front? Does anybody make the kit?
Where to get it?

Thanks,

front comes in a set. why would u just want the fronts? energy suspension makes bushings. you can also order bushings from hotchkis but they are made to fit their brackets and bars.

Try again.

Front: 21.2mm
Rear: 18.2mm

Not guesses, I have them hanging on the wall and measured them with my Mitutoyo digital caliper. Measurement includes paint thickness.

I got the TRD rear one six months ago (first upgrade and money best spent so far).
Now I just need the front (nobody sells just the front...) or as a last resort just the poly bushings for the OEM bar...

By the way, do you know energy suspension part number for TC sway bar bushes?

Thanks

TRD doesn't sell a front sway. To my knowledge the only way you can get one is to buy the Hotchkis set. I don't know of any other company that offers one at this time. But you know that eventually someone will if not TRD.

you must have those numbers backwards, the rear bar is thicker then the fronts

You are confused. As I said, I have them hanging on the wall, and it is easy to see which is front and which is rear. The front bar is 21.2mm. The rear bar is 18.2mm. Do I need to post pictures to prove this?

Lo bux,

You are right about the dia's. That does not make sense though to have a stronger bar in the front on a FWD car...
AFAIK, you can do w/o the front bar but the lack of the rear one would manifest itself on the first corner.......

By the way, since you have the bars hanging on the wall, would you be able to provide some info on the front brackets/bushes?

Energy Suspension http://www.energysuspension.com/pages/swaybbct.html sellls a lot of generic poly bushes, I am pretty shure we could match something...

I am a big fan of poly.... If it was up to me I would exchange every bush for poly for its durability and stifness.....

Thanks,

Neither size is right, but the smaller option might be made to work with some modifications to the mount holes.

The rear is 28mm wide, 91mm long, and 70.8mm +/- 0.5mm center to center with a nominal 10mm mounting hole (made for 10mm dia bolt/stud).

The front is 31.5mm wide, 87mm long, and 64.8mm +/- 1.0mm center to center. with nominal 8mm mounting holes.

Each has one hole elongated, that's why the +/- on the hole centers.

Good luck, I didn't see anything there that is an exact match.

Lobux,

When you say smaller one could be used, which one did you mean?
They have four generic bushings on this page:

Which one could I use with minor modification...
