Default Full TRD Suspension

Planning on upgrading to full TRD suspension.
Springs, shocks, rear sway, front strut.

All these items are going to cost me a pretty penny. Estimating about $900. I need to know from those with these parts... Do you feel that they're worth the money? Are you able to explain how much better the suspension and handling is?

I'm not a big fan of mixing aftermarket part brands. I'm going TRD all the way. I've searched but I haven't found a good thread with comments about a full TRD suspension/handling setup.

Thanks.

I don't have this setup, but I test drove a tc on the show floor at my local scion dealership with the TRD setup. I must say it is a good improvement from your standard setup. It is a setup for a daily drive. Also, the setup is good enough to have some autocross fun. Plus, is TRD. You should be getting your money worths because of the R & D from toyota.

I planned to get this setup too, but decided to wait until is time to replace the factory tires. Plan to get 19" along with TRD setup all at once. Don't want to pay double the tire balance and alignment costs.

i plan to go TRD all the way too, I have the springs and stut bar, got them at the same time. a very noticable difference in the sterring with the strut bar feels great. the springs are comfortable too, nice clean ride.

trdsparks sells a whole trd suspension package for $749.00, that is lowering springs, shocks and rear anti-sway bar. all that it is missing is the front tower brace.

I have full TRD suspension, and an Ingalls rear strut tower brace.

TRD suspension is worth the money. It makes a huge difference in the way the car handles.

I wanted to go that route but got quoted (dealer) an install that was 150% of the cost of parts... which is ridiculous.

I would do everything except the TRD Sway unless you're not racing it Hotchkis Sway Bars are far better! I change my TRD Sway bar for the Hotchkis set and I don't regret it.

I actually heard a pretty good debate of the TRD vs Hotchkis sways performance-wise. When it comes down to it, it's all about preference. IIRC, the TRDs should be cheaper too, no?

i too have the whole trd setup. i think that it is all worth it except the front upper strut bar. i say this only because i felt the least benefit from the bar. however, it looks sick as hell and adds a very nice touch to the engine bay. and ender is right, hotchkis may be stiffer but it all comes down to what u like. and with the stiffer bar in the back and in the front you will be loosing alot of ride quality as well. thats why i went trd all the way because, 1. there is a noticable difference in performance and looks and the ride is very close to what it was when the car was stock. plus warrenty is another issue, you wont have the dealer _____in at you for aftermarket parts, when they see a buncha trd stuff on your car they apprecieate it and treat you as if u kno what u are doing instead of just some kid who is trying to rice his car out. at least thats how i feel about it.

The TRD strut bar is the same as the Hotchkis just painted and rebadged.

because you prefer to go aftermarket for quality at lower price than TRD that won't make you rice. and don't think that I'm biased because I do have the TRD exhaust which sounds great. Last but not least not all dealers start _____ing if you go aftermarket at least my dealer doesn't do that.

i understand exactly where u come from, its just that thats how i feel. ive had 2 dealers charge me money b/c they blamed aftermarket parts on things that wernt even close to being the cause of the problems which were definatly warrenty issues. in my area, i feel as if the dealer will do anything to get out of covering somthing under warrenty.

Mine was free.

My dealer installs most TRD parts with no charge if you buy them through the dealer.

All Power Toyota dealerships may be this way, ask around.

i am 100% satisfied with the trd shocks and springs, and i plan on getting the hotchkis set. many have switched from trd to hotchkis sways and they all gave good reviews on it! but in the end, i guess it depends on what ur lookin for. like everyone said, hotchkis is probably better for more competitive driving but trd would still do a good job for those daily driving needs

I believe the TRD is welded to the mounting brackets, whereas the Hotchkis has a pair of bolts on each side.
