Default General questions on TRD shock install after reading forums

1. I already have TRD springs will it be even lower with the TRD Shocks?

2. I have 18's should I cut the bump stop? - Just front or front and rear?

3. Should you use loctite on the strut bolts *read this somewhere did not think it was necessary*

4. Anyone run into any install difficulties along the way?

Height will not change, but the ride will firm up and the car will stay flatter while cornering. You do not have to cut your bump stops at all (I didnt and have no issues). No loctite is required anyhwere..just a basic remove and re-install. If you didnt need a spring compressor to install the TRD srpings on the stock shocks, you will need one to get them on the TRD shocks. The shock shaft will want to pull back into the shock body making much more spring compression required to get them installed.

I don't want to say much because it took us 11 hours, due to some "difficulties" but ideally, it SHOULD be some 4-5 hours if you work quickly and efficiently. Pretty much if you've done it before. It'll be like changing your springs, but onto a different shock. Same process.

Totally worth it, by the way.

your gonna have to cut the bump stops, the ride height really wont change
it did when i had my s-techs and TRD shocks, dropped it slightly

install is fairly easy, if you have the tools

I am proficient with any type of automotive work - however I've just never found myself changin springs or shocks ever just brakes etc.

I think all my rotors took about 1.5 hours with pad change in the front.

The first front took the longest because I had to overcome the small technical difficulties on tools.

Should take the same time as a spring install. Did mine in under 3 hours.

why would you have to cut the bump stops? I didn't.

I didnt cut mine and see no reason to cut them. Theres is no harshness over large bumps, but cutting the stops is very easy and wont cause problems either. Make your own decision on this one...it really wont make a difference either way

Well - I found out mine were cut when the springs were put on. I had the springs put on with the car and the tech is a friend of mine. I asked him if I should cut them he said 'I already cut them in half'.

I had them put em' in so I could put them in the financing, and Trav knows what he's doing atleast he builds some awsome tuners.

It sits on top of the strut around the shaft is the stopping point where you are fully compressed and the car comes down on it.

ALSO - Did anyone need an alignment after installing these? I already have the TRD springs on...
