Default Help b4 i waste money :P

Hey i was thinking of getting the tien basic damping coilovers because they look perfect for someone who doesn't know much about cars, but it seems that they are on a "perpetual" backorder. My queston is can i just order the super street ones for alittle more money and have the same install? Is there anything else i need to order or be aware of, do i need the pillow ball mounts? Thanks for replies! *note i am doing the install by myself and can get help if needed but trying not to.

Also whats EDFC? hehe i keep editing as i find out more stuff.

the install between the tien ss and basic is the same. you will need to reuse your stock topmounts. if you get the pillowball mounts, you wont need to reuse your stock mounts and you can then adjust camber settings for the front as well.

edfc is electronic damping force controller. its like a mini computer with motors that attach to the top of each shock so you can adjust damper settings on the fly in car.

also, the basics will only allow adjustment of ride height
SS's will allow ride height and damping force adjustments
SS+P's will allow the same as the SS's but allows the option of adding EDFC if you choose.

oooh, thats answers it! hehe thanks guys i guess i'm ordering that and the engine dampner tonight

Next set of Qs: How hard will it be to install these, im just an average guy with a garge jack. Also i'm planning on getting sway bars eventually, will it be alot easier if i install them along with tien SS or can i just wait till i have the money? With the sway bars are they going to come out with a new/better front bar? i kinda want to wait untill all the front sway bar issues are fixed b4 i buy one. Thanks - Ben

If you have any mechanical knowledge, youill be fine.

I did all 4 fron the time the car was first jacked up till i put it down was only 1.5 hours.

I would expect about a 4 hour job since you havent done it yet. But either way, its VERY easy to do

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...spring+install

that will help a little bit on how to get the struts off. I am not sure as far as coilovers go, but I know a lot of people on here can help you out alot.

trying doing a search for it also.
