I live in Baltimore (roads are horrible), which is why I got the TRD. I have have about a 1/2 to 1inch gap between the fender and the wheel (I have 18s on it). I feel that it gave the car more of an aggresssive look. But if you want more of the slammed look, I would go for something like Hotchkiss. I think alot of people have them and are pretty happy with themy. If you go with Hotckhiss, I would get the whole suspension package (front and rear sway with the springs). I have both the front and rear sways on my car and they rock.
Hope this helps.
****NOTE**** like mentioned in the post Im quoting ^^.... I am a mechanic with a lot of years of experience.... so here's my 2 cents on the sways. Most people can install the rear Hotchkis sway themselves without much trouble and general wrenching skills. But please note this... installing the front Hotchkis sway requires dropping the entire subframe. And really should not be attempted unless you really know what youre doing. And it is pretty difficult to do without having access to a lift. I did mine in the dealer's shop with one of their lifts and it still took a few hours for me to install just that piece.
This isnt a rant....but I dont think they make it clear enough to people BEFORE they buy those kinds of kits how involved installing the front sway is. And with Hotchkis its not smart to run just the rear sway. It is much thicker than other options ie TRD, or Progress. Those are smaller diameter and are meant to be able to be used alone on the rear without a front sway.
^^msotenotc... just like with any lowering kit... you just have to be careful how you drive and approach angles so that you dont scrape. and you can do just the Hotchkis springs by themselves... you dont HAVE to add the front and rear sways...but trust me its money well spent. It really dials in the suspension mod as a whole... I have mine set on the street setting (not race which you could) and it handles and corners like she's on rails!
