Save your 400 bucks....go to autozone rent spring compressors....put in about 2-3 hours and do it yourself. I went to a shop who wanted $90 a corner, so close to what your shop is charging and I turned around and did it myself. Did it two years ago with no problems, no experience, and limited tools. It's not as hard as you think.

Granted I have an xb2 but I'm assuming a TC could not be much harder.

Actually $400 is not that bad depending what the hourly shop rate is (it is a buisness and they will make a profit on any job, remember you allways have the option to say no).... Ask them what the shop rate is and ask them to see what the book time is. Also does that include an alignment check? Some people say that you dont need it but it does not hurt after you do pull the whole suspension apart to make sure that everything is still correct. Doing the drop your self is an option too, DarkBox8 is correct with hand tools and some time you can do it your self a tC is a bit more involved than an xB but not by much almost anyone can do it. Rent the tools from a parts store get some friends and go for it.

the tc is a bit harder then the xb2. the rear is a PITA i think lol. but on the xb2 its way easy, i think it took me like 1 hour to do my friends xb2 and a few hours to do the tc.. but OP do it yourself, make sure to have a buddy or 2 to help you out, makes things way easier.

$400 is way too high.
We do at least 1 or 2 Scion tC springs install a week.
We charge $250.

400 is way too much, the most I've seen spring installs go for is $200 around here. If you know what you're doing, do it yourself, it's fairly easy. It should only take a couple of hours, IF you know what to do.

just a friendly tip if you decide to do it yourself get a razor blade and a door type deal right where the top of the rear shock is and cut it so tha it swings towards you not away from you, that way when you have the rear seats back in the up right position you can't tell its cut. makes it a 1000 times easier and you don't have to remove the rear of the car tot get to the shock mounts

After watching my friend install them, I can install them myself now. It's not that difficult.

Wait like 2-3 weeks for the springs to settle before you get an alignment.

Hey better the strut than the cv boot.. I think the best part of owning a car and wanting to replace or add anything to it is having the luxury to do it yourself.
