Koni Sport/Yellow Question

I have been reading on the Koni's and I have been seeing Koni Sports and Koni Yellows. Are they 2 different things or the same? And when I look for the sports, it's just shocks, not struts. So, do I need TRD struts or something? I know this is really dumb question.

I have also read that you have to do some cutting and/or drilling for the Koni's. I am planning on installing a set up of Tein S-Tech with Koni Sport/Yellow MYSELF, but if there is required drilling or cutting, I will have a store do it for me. Is this true?

Thanks guys... :D

Hmm, helps a little bit. Seems like you have to use stock struts right? And it also seems you have to modify it yourself. Guess I am gonna get a shop to do it for me.

You have to use part of the stock struts... I think for the front. I believe the rear is a bolt on. You could PM the guy in that thread and get more detail on it though.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea. How much would labor be if I were to let them do it? :ponder:

Kilo6_one 05-15-2006 02:28 AM

buy coilovers
its more cost effective............

ack154 05-15-2006 02:29 AM

My guess would be a few hundred labor. Depending on the shop. You'd have to call around and get an estimate...

Yes, I know what you mean, but I looked on the Tein site and the SS is like $1,250 and the SS-Ps are like $1,400. Unless if you can get them for more than 50% off than the retail price. Then I'd do it.

Get the tein basics...or the new megan coilovers which are 32 way adjustable+ more for the same price around $850-900.

I don't really like Megan Racing, because I have never heard of it until I started liking tCs. I just don't think it's a big name and a good brand. I have no reason to say this, but it's what I assume, which I could be wrong. Plus, I don't know much about them, so yea.

Harmonic_tC 05-15-2006 03:24 AM

well new springs and struts will run you about $50 less than the tein basics. the megans are great, you can trust them

20tCDude05 05-15-2006 03:35 AM

Just looked on their site, and they LOOK HOT, but they are like a grand. So, think I can get them cheaper?

Harmonic_tC 05-15-2006 03:47 AM

check out the site sponsers!!

talk to keith from racingsolutions.com

20tCDude05 05-15-2006 04:00 AM

It doesn't work. It says it's for sale.

Harmonic_tC 05-15-2006 04:07 AM

oops sorry,

its www.racingsolution.com

20tCDude05 05-15-2006 04:11 AM

Looks good, but I don't see any Megan Racing coilovers there.

Kilo6_one 05-15-2006 04:25 AM

yeah, the megan coilovers are sketchy at best. They are alright for things like Spipes and stuff but they are a lower end brand. As for coilovers contact Joe Dezod, he has the H&R which are about 1100 or so, much better then the Tein they are H&R, so there is not a question of quality.
Im sort of in the same boat you are, buy the yellows, and pay 600 for the shocks, or save some more money and get coilovers.

20tCDude05 05-15-2006 04:27 AM

What's an S-Pipe? Exhaust right? Anyway, H&R are the best for coilovers?

brian 05-15-2006 04:47 AM

if you haven't heard of megan racing then you haven't really been in the car world long have you...i guess that's evident by you asking what an s-pipe is and thinking it's an exhaust. personally i would go with the mr coils, but i got the basics before the mr coils came out which sucks, but oh well. and save money and do the install yourself, your wallet will thank you.

but i guess it may be different from car to car. i own a 240 and the mr coils for them are awesome.

20tCDude05 05-15-2006 05:06 AM

 Sorry, I am new at this. I started talking about cars like a year ago. I think I will go with the Megan Racing ones. They look hot...
