Default low and comfortable ride

i currently have trd springs with stock skocks/struts, about 1 inch drop. the ride is pretty good, but i would like something a little lower. proly around 1.5 drop to go with my 19's. maybe somthing similar to the tein h-techs. i don't wanna get coilovers cuz i heard they aren't that smooth and expensive. what other springs r in that range and have a good reputation? would the ride be the same as the trd springs cuz it's not that big of a drop? i would like to keep the stock shocks/struts. will the shocks/struts go out on this mild of a drop? any feedback would be great.

Well it depends on how you drive but eventually the stock struts/shocks will break and you well have to get new struts/shocks. I'd recommend you getting new struts/shocks when you install your new springs. Get TRDs since your not looking to lower more than 1.5 inch. Since you aren't really looking for a severe drop H-Techs would be good. You can also look into the H&R sport springs which drops 1.4F and 1.3R. I've heard that Eibach springs quality isn't as good because they sag due to wear and tear. I'm not 100 percent sure about Eibach springs so maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong.

^^Yuck!! Uhhh, no offense......

Try hotchkis, those are sweet looking and a bit lower than trd while they even out the suspension really nicely.

X2, they ride very nice and it's a sweet drop. not to extreme or to high.

Look at his post.....he is only looking for a 1.5 inch drop and the Hotchkis drops about 2 in the front when it settles and about 2.2 inch in the back. I heard the comfort is good but he is also on 19's. H-Techs would be the best or H&R springs.

Yea, I know what numbers he's asking for, but unless you go to coilovers, what drop is there between trd and hotchkis? Maybe there is a spring that i'm not familiar with?? In my mind, hotchkis is the next step down from trd (again, unless there is a spring that i'm not thinking of) - feel free to correct me someone.

umm...H-Tech is the next step down from TRD. H-Tech is only 1.9 in the front and 1.6 in the back..Hotchkis is as tc913 said, 2 in the front and 2.2 in the back

aren't all springs bound to sag after time? so in any case, i will have to get new shocks/struts, sooner rather than later. i don't know how true it is, but i heard somewhere that the stock shocks/struts will hold up if u didn't lower it more than 1.5".

is it a bad thing if i think my s-tech's are smooth?

and you can rock 19's with em no problem.

dude get H&R sport.....unlike what someone else said (dono who and im too lazy to go back up and check), there is a medium between trd and hotchkis (ps hotchkis and h-tech are relatively the same drop)....it's the H&R Sport ones. they won't sag....they're better made than any other spring out there....as far i know, they're the only ones that are made in Germany. extremely high quality, great ride. there's a reason that all that Dezod uses is H&R. if you decide to get em, pm me and ill tell you how to get the best price on them.

here's how my drop looks. i really wanna just close the wheel gap. i'm not sure if the h&r sport will drop enough to close it. i might end up getting the h-techs. what do u guys think?

the h&r sports are the optimal drop...anything more than 1.5" and handlight actually decreases, not increase.

regardless, if you want more, go with hotchkis...they're essentially the same drop as h tech's but they ride much better...they're a lot sportier...the h tech's are quite spongy...not the optimal feel. i'm gettin the h&r's when i get money for springs...plus you don't even have to use a spring compressor to get them on the struts and shocks how's that for a perk?

Yea H&R will get rid of that gap....but if you want to get rid of more gap then H-Techs would be fine. Hotchkis imo will be very low and you might rub depending on your offset.

I haven't seen a tC with 19's dropped on Hotchkis. Some people with Hotchkis rubs on 18's but I think it's just a matter of tire-wheel combination. If you get the right tire size and wheel width, there shouldn't be a problem. I'm just wondering why can someone put 19's with S-Techs and not with Hotchkis.... Knowing the latter has a higher drop height.

it all has to do with the wheel/tire ^^

look at nolimitzinc's car before he parted it out. 20's. s-tech's. no rubbing. if you run a big offset (like my wheels before the spacers, +4 the wheels get sunk in and dont rub. if you run aggressive offset, you will rub. it's a trade off. flush look = rubs, sunk in= no rub.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I would get the right tire-wheel combination for a specific drop and just sacrifice the speedometer reading changes.

I agree with that, the H&R's give a great ride. I had them on my old car, and it handled like it was on rails. And it gave it the right drop; enough to tell that it was lowered, not so low that it looked slammed or I feared for the safety of my oil pan.
