Default lowering your car

I was wondering, if I was to lower my car, could I just get tein S techs and install? i read that I dont need any camber kits so would the stechs be the way to go?no coilovers?

if thats the extent of your knowledge on lowering a tc and the options that are out there, i suggest you educate yourself before you go any further. im not trying to be offensive, but i really think you need to take a hard look at what's available. some springs will drop it 2 inches....but does one make it have a spongy feeling or a sport feeling?? id say the h-techs and the hotchkis springs fill this argument pretty well. so my point is, theres tons of springs out there, and they'll all give you a drop, but how is the car gonna handle afterwards? also, how much are willing to spend? theres tons of coilover setups too. before you go out and buy s-techs and expect them to be your miracle, look around and educate yourself. theres tons of info here on the forums so read up.

I've read that any drop more than about 1.5" is going to have an adverse effect on handling.

Forza says otherwise.

But ya I heard that too. 1.5" is a nice drop regardless though. Handling wise I can't really tell the difference with my Hotckis springs. I think it might be because I installed sways first though.

ya... sways are the overhwelming best handling mod out there for these cars... you'd be hard pressed to feel a difference with some springs when the sways are already there.

You will need an alignment a few days after you get the springs installed. Other than that, just take the old ones out, put the new ones in, and youre good to go.

Well, hey man, you are gonna get alot of talk about you shoud do this or you should do that.... but if you are gonna drop your car "do it yourself style" - do it right. for example I bought all the following at once and WHOA...... it is like having a chubby and draining it too.... S-tech's, TRD struts, SPC Camber Kits, Hotckis Fand R Sways.... I would suggest save your dough and do it right all at once..... Dont risk your tires and your ride to save a couple of pennies.

if u get hotchkis or a less of a drop you won't need any camber links or anything. anymore of a drop than hotchkis and you might need additional parts. i'm also using stock shocks/struts with my hotchkis and it's fine.

i read a lot before i post this up, i just read that the stechs are fine ride and no problems with rubbing. I'm thinkin about gettin a sway bar as well. Also, some people wrote that camber kits arent really that necessary if you just get regular alignments. also, can i trust the people who are selling stechs for like 160$????

go with hotchkis. it's a little higher than the s-techs but look killer.

S-techs for 160.00 are not a bad price. That is reasonable for S-techs. I got my H-techs for 149 shipped.

I got my S-Techs on Ebay for $105...the dudes name is theperformancedriver. He was in my area so I picked them up, I don't know how much his shipping is. I'm on stock shocks and I'm not seeing much, if any cambering. I am getting an alignment on Friday. I'm also waiting for Tokico or Bilstein to come out with struts/shocks for the tC.

you can install the stechs but after a few days you will need to get the car aligned... your toe in and out are the major things that will need adjusting.. camer on the stechs is a few -degrees...i had stechs and my camber was -2 all the way around..

by the way i have a set of stechs for sale lol.. so if you interested LMK.

i would rethink h-tech's, they're really spongy compared to hotchkis. hotchkis will give a more sportier feel to the car. both hotchkis and h-tech's are almost the exact same drop. also, due to how the springs are made...i believe its linear vs. progressive?...hotchkis won't wear out your stock struts/shocks like the tein's will.
