Exclamation Monroe 172400 quick strut assembly - not compatible?

Ordered two of these for the rear of my 08 tC. As you can see, the bottom of the strut is turned differently than the stock one. Is the common for full assemblies to come like this?

Anyone else had an issue like this? It does not fit, obviously.

You know you can mount the hat any way you want and turn the eye on the bottom, right?

No, I didn't know that. How easy is it to turn? I read on a wrx forum ppl said to put the assembly in a vice then turn the eye with a long screwdriver.

Even if I did try to put turn the eye after mountung the hat, how can I turn it when the control arm is in the way and so for

No, i didn't know that. This is my first time trying to do this myself.

I read on a WRX forum that someone said you could put the strut assembly in a vice, then use a long screwdriver to turn the eye. When you say I could turn the eye once i have the hat in, how exactly do I do that with the control arm in the way? It's not like i can just hand turn it...can i?

Control arm's not in way. Just push it out of the way so you can twist eyelet. Easier if you disconnect swaybar from control arm. Stick screwdriver in eyelet and rotate so it would line up with control arm.
