Default My tC racing this weekend - Handling WHAT? *ADDED VIDEO!!!*

*ADDED 6/21*

-Here is me racing Rick 'Raamaudio's' tC. The fast run my buddy recording missed the start so I showed the unclean run before. I got so close to breaking into 55 Rick gave me his last run and I nailed a 55.4

I added video of the fast evo just to show how well the lil tC did.-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U73AeVTTypg

Ok - well I went out and threw down in Packwood this weekend there were only 3 cars in STS but they were setup with the right tires and suspension and are great NWR SCCA drivers. I also had 18" 27lbs Motegi Touge's with Pirelli P-Zero's M+S and 400 treadwear!

So I got fist by about .2 ! Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwrqWMXP0-4

Just goes to show that road races are for fast cars, autocross is for fast drivers ;)

After this run I ran time only in the afternoon in Ricks 'Raamaudio' tC and went from my 57.009 winning STS run down to a 55.4!!! WOW He was on Hankook tires and coilovers and it made a huge difference his car drove really well. That was only a few seconds out of the fastest cars there - and like 2 some secs behind a porsche GT3 on race tires. Go me.

I would like to thank Rob over at Ingalls for helping make my car so stable ;) I've gone from 3rd/4th place finished to 1st and second without even changing the tires and wheels and suspension yet!

I am hoping that soon I'll be able to take the tC to a new level, the time I ran was considered a 'National level STS' time in comparison to the field.

I'm out to prove the tC can THROW down in the handling department!

Not yet but he did have a lightweight flywheel, upgraded clutch as well as LSD and some other stuff.

The Willwood big brake it was KILLER ;)

I will have video of me driving his car later tonight to post.

I'm going on the 1st... I'm planning around a 56.. hopefully faster.

I have clutch, flywheel, LSD, TRD shocks/struts, springs, hotchkis sways, Falken 451 tires, Magnaflow exhaust...

I don't think I'll do too badly

The tC w/ my mods just wants to go. Very fun car to drive. the Quaife LSD is a huge change in driving characteristics also.

THe only thing is. WIth the modifications i have. I feel like i can't shift fast enough. I am pretty sure I just need to learn to drive the car better (I installed the flywheel and clutch when i got my quaife lsd, so its only been about a month).

But i think the TRD short shifter would help out a bit.

Gotta give it a lil fuel getting into gear - the clutch plate he has locks on pretty fast! Accelleration was awesome, very smooth off the line and powering out of and through skidpads was a whole new ballgame.

LSD is like WOW.

I have been around autocrossing and racing for decades so am a pretty good judge of driver ability, Paul is one hell of a great driver, very fast and smooth.

I put him in my car knowing he would soon be faster than I was and he blew away my time.

I am fine with that, I have not been as fast the last couple of years as I used to be but never was in the same league he is in so it was great to see just how fast I have made my car, something I can take great pride in, even it if means with a better driver than I am.

Just so you know, I can still outdrive 99.99% of those on the road that think they can drive. I am great at emergency avoidance manuevers, etc. I had my car all out of shape several times on the weekend and still made most of the gates, I am more into having fun than fastest times now anyway, I just love to compete and hang out with cool car people.

This is what I think of Paul as a driver, if I can get more of the setup done on the car I want to fly him to some events to drive it for me, he is that good;)

The Mazda speed miatas were in CSP on race tires and the Blue one that was on that time has a National Title.

I know you mean well but just so you know, that cannot be used for any sort of real comparison. There are far to many vairiables, different course layout, different altitude, track surface and condition, ambient temperature, etc. The only valid comparison is on the same course on the same day and preferably same time of day if possible.

Also the variations of the driver skill, mods to the car, etc, make a very big impact on these numbers.

A mostly stock SI on that track with a really good driver may of matched Pauls time in his tC, maybe;)

wow thats a great eye opener that you could come that close to a turbo miata on race tires and obviously a good driver as well, with the mods you have. i could see you were a great driver from the rhythm but it helps to have a comparison vs. a car with much more track ability.keep up the great driving!!

In 2003 I used to beat turbo Miatas with race tires in my SM class turbo Matrix on V700 Kumhos that are not as sticky as the best tires of that time.

They were not in my class of course and only the really tweaked Miatas that were not really streetable , more pure race car could beat me and not by much

My driving was better then, my car had 250WHP, the chassis setup was dialed in well, etc.

Paul is really good at this game, he will still have more to learn though when he drives my turbo tC with race tires, it will be a whole new world
