yeah but if he gets springs, then hell have to get struts, and for the money he might as well go with the $800 basics.....especially if hes gonna have to change springs out every winter..

depending on what type of ride quality he wants, he wont go with the basics. Heard too many bad things about the basics.
Ive been on my Hotchkis springs for about 1yr & 4 months with no problems. I just bought TRD shocks and will get them installed this week. Even if i were to get coilovers i would set them at the Hotchkis level. So theres nothing wrong with getting springs now and shocks later.

what bad things have you heard, was really looking into buying them.....
ps. the only bad things are that they make your car really sensitive when you drop the height completely
pss. are the basics good for track use..

thats the only thing ive heard about the basics. Track use only, for the daily commute itsnt all that great which is the same reason i just went with shocks. I wanted a better more comfortable ride for my DD so i went with shocks. Others said the "basics" are not for that. Thats probally why their the entry level on coilovers. Hense the name "basic".

Tein Basic is not recommended for DD because of its high spring rates. Really recommended for track use only. Or if it's fine with your body absorbing every single bump on the road, and getting off your car feeling you've just got beaten up.
