Default New Springs Install, Should I attempt?

Hey, I have never done anything with suspension on a car before, but I am a diy kinda guy, Ive read the tutorials and have a very good feel of what to do, should I go ahead and attempt the install (springs / struts) ?

Please give me some advice, whats the worst that could happen  ?

hey, only one way to find out... right?
give it a try. but just make sure there's someone you can contact that has done this sort of thing before in case you have any problems.
i was debating the same thing. for the work that's actually done it seems ridiculous to me to pay someone $200+ for the install. the only part i wouldn't be crazy about doing myself is compressing the springs.

if your uncomfortable, try to find someone who has worked on springs and can watch while you do the work. And remember how the stock springs were on...just in case.

oh....but a spring compressor is a must on the rear springs at least. I figured out how to do the fronts without it, but thats something else

I would think coilovers would be a little easier then springs since (correct me if I am wrong), for springs I am reading that the spring compressor is almost (really) needed for the instal and I dont think you need it for coilovers since, well its coilovers...? Right?

oh boy...seems like we have some real noobs in this thread.

please use a spring compressor. you need it when you take off the old spring from the strut. you see, that spring in under some pressure. you could just go ahead and loosen the top bolt, but you run a risk of breaking your leg when the spring flies out.
go rent a spring compressor, you can get cheap ones from autozone for $40 deposit, they give it back to you when you return them

clamp the compressor onto the stock spring and evenly, can't stress this enough, evenly tighten down each bolt on the compressor till the spring is loose in the strut. then undo the top bolt and remove the assembly. now, evenly loosen the compressor and remove it from the stock spring.

Lol, i must be crazy, i just installed tein basics 2 days ago and i used 1 spring compresser for the rears ( as in only 1 side of the spring was compressed) and none for the fronts, but on all of them i jacked up the suspension so it was under load and then did my dismantling work then lowered the whole thing and took it out.

The reason i did it like that was because autozone gave me some ___ 18 inch long spring compressers and i couldn't really fit more the 1 on the backs. I would not suggest doing it like i did thought because i had alot of trouble getting the back ones out. They shot down once i undid the bolt and got stuck (had to use a prybar to get them out of those mounts they go in).
