Please define spring rate
I have been trying to find a working definition of spring rate.
Sometimes it is in pounds sometime in %.
What it the stock spring rate and .... how do the numbers help you understand ... I believe that it would be how stiff the bounce back rate is?
I really don't know. I guessing here.

Google is your friend.

Spring rate is always defined in lbs/in.
"%" is only used when comparing springs, as when TRD springs are said to have a spring rate "18% higher in the front, and 26% in the rear over stock" springs.
How much a spring compresses or extends is determined by its "spring rate." Spring rate is measured in pounds per inch of deflection; for example, 100 pounds per inch. So, say a load of 200 pounds is applied, the spring will deflect 2 inches.

ok ok i get the point...
It is one thing to just read things on google and it is another to hear feed back from ppl that have been through this stuff at some point.
I have also had great conversations that have helped me understand things in a way that just reading stuff online can't do. Also, there is so much marketing and advertising bull____ out there it is hard to know what to trust when you really don't have a base line of knowledge

The softest aftermarket springs I know of are the TRD and Tein H-tech. H-tech's are 185/308 - TRD's are almost identical. Higher spring rates mean cornering is greatly improved as well as launch/stop stability but the ride is a little harsher.
Even stiffer spring rates - Progress Sport for example is 200/360 - tell you you'll have even better handling but you'll be feeling most every bump in the road. If you go all-out for handling you can get coilovers with even higher spring rates.
